This screenshot motivational poster is in high favor of Superman x Wonder Woman from Justice League, Ryu Hoshi x Chun-Li from Street Fighter, Ken Masters x Cammy White from Street Fighter, Roy Mustang x Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal Alchemist, Eric Myers x Taylor Earhardt from Power Rangers, Inuyasha x Ayame from Inuyasha, and Raymond x Alex from Totally Spies. This is also dedicated to everybody who desires these seven couples as their OTPs for life as much as I do. Sit back, relax, and revel in SuperWonder’s authoritative might, RyuLi’s focused determination, Kenammy’s fiery willpower, RoyAi’s unrelenting loyalty, Quantum Eagle’s resilient toughness, InuAya’s magnificent strength, and Raylex’s gorgeous synergy. Nothing excites me more than embracing my seven favorite fictional couples I consider to be battle-power couples. Their formidability, fortitude, fierceness, strength, combat prowess, might, and potency have always made me enthralled from my head to my heart to my soul. It should be no surprise that I have been shipping these couples ever since I was in my tween years while discovering several attributes that made each power couple superb in my eyes in latent, overt, and/or surprising ways. From the childhood delight of pairing Superman and Wonder Woman as a couple to my further appreciation for Raymond and Alex as a gorgeously lovely couple, there was nothing that could separate me from these seven power couples that I cherish the most. Even when some people discourage me by proclaiming that some of these power couples are not canon and will never happen, I do not bother with them and make them stew in their self-loathing, fun-sucking ways because I take pride in going against the grain. Now, it is time for me to sing my praises and high esteem for these seven mighty power couples. Superman and Wonder Woman aka Clark Kent and Diana Prince aka Kal-El of Krypton and Diana of Themyscira are the power couple to end all power couples. This is not just attributed that they are DC Comics’ beacons for mythically grand heroism. This also extends to them not just looking phenomenal either. Both Superman and Wonder Woman represent authority, duty, and reverence that need to be earned by protecting civilians from oppression and cruelty as well as being pillared anchors of super strength for the Justice League. While some people in the DC fandom may find SuperWonder to be a rather bland couple, given how incredibly invincible both superheroes are and how similar they are to a fault, I have always cherished Superman and Wonder Woman for their mythical authority and sheer might in saving the world from destruction. I even envision Superman x Wonder Woman giving Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde a run for their money because their indestructibility and regal power make them worthier of aspiration and adulation. Therefore, Superman and Wonder Woman are deserving of reverence. Ryu Hoshi and Chun-Li are what occurs when the unbreakable focus in the martial arts and sheer determination to grow as combatants and as people entwine. Ryu’s and Chun-Li’s focus and determination as martial artists and as individuals are the hallmarks of what make them infallible, especially when they are together inside and outside combat situations. Neither of them will rest until they not only fully commit to their lives as warriors but also do their part in ensuring that justice and peace prevail for the people they care about. Should criminals, looters, and marauders pillage Ryu’s and Chun-Li’s happily blessed home, they would unleash every punch, kick, takedown, grapple, and power-up from their arsenal to make them pay for what they have done in droves. From the very first moments that I stumbled upon the Street Fighter franchise as a child growing up in the 1990s, Ryu x Chun-Li was the first couple I ever shipped. Back then as a child, I could not fathom why. However, now as an adult, what I can see in Ryu and Chun-Li is respect, allegiance, loyalty, and support for each other as a superb martial arts couple. Ken Masters and Cammy White are striking up the band when it comes to challenging each other to grow in fortitude and perseverance while also possessing tenderly intimate moments as a power couple. The golden sunshine of their blond hair and sparkling blue eyes may reflect Ken’s and Cammy’s conventionally Western aesthetics in contrast to Ryu’s and Chun-Li’s brunette hair and predominantly Asian features. All looks aside, Ken and Cammy demonstrate exuberance, fearlessness, and fieriness in embracing every challenge they encounter together. Moreover, Ken’s muscularly hot-blooded virility excitingly compliments Cammy’s icily steely determination to the point where they can hold their own both individually and as a couple. Their traits also work in their favor when pummeling criminals and terrorists, considering how Ken’s brutal strikes and takedowns work beautifully with Cammy’s quickly-paced strikes. I have also been a hardcore shipper of Ken x Cammy ever since I was a child, and I continue to cherish them as a couple because they can challenge each other to improve as people. Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye command full respect, allegiance, loyalty, nobility, and courage in the face of all adversity and strife with electrifying flair. Once again, Roy’s hot-bloodedly virile fire compliments Riza’s icily cool quicksilver bullets in a frenzy that involves lethal edge and taking no prisoners. Felons and legitimate war criminals would easily tremble at the severe and quick punishments that Roy and Riza can deliver with effortless fatality. Superiors and followers alike discover multiple upon multiple facets that make Roy and Riza worthy of emulation and adoration, thanks to their commanding formidability, pristine decorum, and valorous courage amidst pain, adversity, strife, and trouble. When everything is silent and all the chaos is mildened, Roy and Riza would engage in spicy yet subtle sexual tension in their well-furnished chambers. During my late-tween to early teen years of watching Fullmetal Alchemist, I have always been a partisan of Roy x Riza aka RoyAi. The belligerent sexual tension, the trust, and the allegiance…
Motivational Poster
This screenshot motivational poster is super highly Pro-Toga or Pro-Inu no Taisho. Sit back, relax, and find out why Toga the Dog General is not only a stern, appreciative, protective, strong father to his two biological sons Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha but also his daughter-in-law Ayame, his surrogate sons, Shuran, Hakkaku, and Ginta, his surrogate daughters Toran, Karan, Ayumi, and Shunran, and his allies who he treats like his sons Kuranosuke Takeda and Hiten as well as a steadfast, passionate, and valiant husband to InuKimi and Izayoi. This is also my submission for this year’s Red Ribbon Reviewers. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’s Philip “Uncle Phil” Banks may be a stern authority figure, lawyer, and eventually judge who runs a tight ship in his household, thus ensuring that his three biological children plus his surrogate son/nephew remain on the straight and narrow, despite their mischievous moments, while also being a loving husband to his wife, Vivian “Aunt Viv” Banks. The Cosby Show’s Dr. Heathcliff “Cliff” Huxtable may be a charmingly charismatic patriarch gifted with a silver spoon in his mouth, oodles of sage advice, and sufficient encouragement which can make his wife and kids root for him every single step of the way, while peppering his presence with a great amount of humour to make him surprisingly warm and fuzzy. Family Matters’ Officer Carl Winslow may balance his paternal duties to his wife and kids with his career as a member of the police force, thus upholding the law and protecting his family from all ills. However, Dog General Toga could easily make Uncle Phil reverently bow down to him, Cliff’s knees shake and shiver, and Carl seem more like a rookie law enforcer. Toga could even make My Wife and Kids’ Michael Kyle feel like a little boy in stark comparison to him while making the likes of Al Bundy from Married with Children, Hal from Malcolm in the Middle, and Ray Campbell-Landry from Sister Sister get down on their knees and worship the ground he walks on. Therefore, Toga is the strong authority figure, staunch law enforcer, and charismatic sage his wives and his children need in their family built on fortitude, solidarity, and perseverance, and TV sitcom dads absolutely pale in comparison to Toga’s overall majesty. Even Uncle Phil would announce all the TV dads to assemble, form a nice straight line, and greet Dog General Toga with fanfare, salutes, and pomp galore. While Toga can be a loving father and husband like Cliff Huxtable, he is a whole lot more serious and down-to-earth than Cliff could ever aspire to be. Toga, in fact, can be easily compared to Uncle Phil and Officer Carl because of how no-nonsense he is as an authority figure while never neglecting his spousal duties to InuKimi and Izayoi as well as his paternal duties to Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Ayame, Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran. Furthermore, Toga would be a much more supportive father figure than The Panther King could ever be to Toran, Shuran, Karan, and Shunran, thus demonstrating that blood is not always thicker than water. Ultimately, Toga can be deemed as the Uncle Phil of Feudal Era Japan because of how superbly they can balance being sternly sturdy authority figures, with Toga being a high-ranking warlord and Uncle Phil being a high-profile lawyer and high-ranking judge, and mighty patriarchs who unite their families under one roof through thick and thin. The only difference is that Uncle Phil is mostly on the choleric side in a more bombastic manner, while Toga’s choleric personality is subtler and more refined. The comparisons between Toga and Uncle Phil can be attributed to both of them being affluent men of power, experiencing varying degrees of strife, discrimination, and violence, and rising above their troubles to make something greater of themselves by being a pillar of strength to their families. They have also seen two different sides of their wives united in their roles as staunch matriarchs, with InuKimi and Izayoi being Janet Hubert’s Aunt Viv and Daphne Maxwell Reid’s Aunt Viv to Toga’s Uncle Phil. Where romance is concerned, Toga’s marriage to InuKimi is out of duty while his marriage to Izayoi is out of love, as InuKimi is a powerful career woman while Izayoi is a loving yet stern noblewoman who unconditionally loves her husband and children. Nevertheless, he loves them just the same. While there is no doubt that Toga has kept Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame in line because the former two are his biological sons and the latter is his daughter-in-law, he could also prove himself to be a much stronger father figure to Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran. For those of you who have remembered the classic Season 4 episode “Papa’s Got a Brand New Excuse”, you would find yourselves tearing up profusely at the ending. While Lou Smith was an opportunistic deadbeat dad, the Panther King was a vicious, cruel, ruthless despot who manipulated his own biological children to gather human sacrifices so that he can be revived. The twist was that he sucked out Shuran’s, Karan’s, and Shunran’s powers and left Toran utterly shaken before they were revived by Sesshoumaru’s Tenseiga and he was finished off by Inuyasha’s Tessaiga. The worst misdeed Lou did to Will, his own biological son, was abandon him, which, while atrocious, was nothing compared to what the Panther King did to his own flesh and blood. Toga would, therefore, be the father Toran, Shuran, Karan, and Shunran desperately needed in their lives. Where Hakkaku and Ginta are concerned, although they are the comic reliefs, they do also deserve a strong father figure in their lives, not just older brothers from other mothers like Sesshoumaru, Shuran, and Inuyasha. Beneath their goofiness and fun-loving personalities are two souls who want direction and structure in their lives when it comes to growing into manhood. Knowing the abuse Toran, Shuran, Karan, and Shunran endured as well as how much Hakkaku and Ginta wanted a proper father figure in their lives,…
This screenshot motivational poster is highly Pro-Jeff McCallister and Pro-Edmund Pevensie but it has nothing to do with shipping whatsoever. However, this has something to do with my own perception of how I wanted to see myself in these characters when I was a lot younger. Furthermore, this is my contribution for this year’s Red Ribbon Reviewers’ Month. My dear friends, I would like you to immerse yourselves to when I was a 13-year-old seventh-grader who was a hardcore Home Alone and Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe fan, considering that the former film has celebrated its 30th anniversary and the latter film is going to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Picture yourselves in my position when I religiously tuned in to see these young men respectively played by Michael Maronna and Skandar Keynes gracing the screen with their rambunctious attitudes, ambivalent moral alignments though still leaning on the side of good, yet likable charms. Do you know what sparked in my mind back when I was an impressionable 13-year-old boy? That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. I wanted to be thin like them. I know that what I am about to say is going to be quite triggering. However, you need to understand that I am not going to trigger, let alone implicate, some type of eating disorder to be passed down on you. Granted, as I am talking to you in my present adult self, I am currently 12 stone 12.13 lbs (180.13 lbs or 81.7 kg), but the truth remains that I still have about 1 stone 9.13 lbs to 3 stone 12.13 lbs to go until I reach my healthy weight range. Going back to the time when I was thirteen years old, I may have been a bit lighter than I was in comparison to today, but I was still very unhappy with what I looked like and I almost started to become very wary of the types of foods I was eating at that young of an age, i.e. being super aware of the calorie content of certain meals my relatives in San Francisco were preparing during the arrival of my dad, my mom, myself, my younger sister, and my younger brother as well as the many times my family and I would go out to restaurants or do food shopping. There were times I thought to myself that having something to eat that did not meet the rules I had to be thinner was akin to committing appearance suicide just because I wanted to know what it was going to be like to end up skinny. Enter Jeff and Edmund who I not only identified with in terms of their ambiguous personalities and even the dumb decisions they have made when I was their age, but also the actors who portrayed them who were a lot slimmer than I was when I was thirteen. It even got to the point where one of my biggest performing arts dreams when I was young was to lose a whole lot more weight and participate in a staged production of Home Alone and Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe playing Jeff McCallister and Edmund Pevensie respectively. That would have been one of the biggest successes in my life as a young budding actor and it would have been so much fun to have played a younger brother role rather than the real-life older brother that I am. Even when I came back to Cebu from my Christmas and New Year’s break in San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C., I wrote that one of my New Year’s resolutions was to be thin like Jeff and Edmund because I aspired to look like that at that age. I did not want to be a massive fatty by any stretch of the imagination and the thought of ending up like that made my skin crawl with disgust and my hair stand on end with fright. Nowadays, as an adult, I still aspire to be slim, though not slim as they were, but for a more different reason other than sheer vanity. At least going back to why I wanted to be thinner and aspire to have slimline frames like Jeff and Edmund had made me realize that I was just an idealistic thirteen-year-old boy with a lot of big dreams, huge aspirations, and no time for setbacks or disappointments. These days, wanting to aim for slimness is no longer a question of vanity or getting the next modeling deal once the pandemic subsides but a question of long-term self-sufficiency, good health, active energy, and the love I have for this short yet insane life of mine. In conclusion, it has been fifteen years since I wanted to become as thin as Edmund and Jeff, especially when I flashed back to the time I was a thirteen-year-old seventh-grader attending a missionary-run school with a whole lot that I wanted to live for. Nevertheless, those memories that I had still hold fresh in my mind to this day because of how impressionable I was at that age. These days with more mature eyes, I can always fall back on health, happiness, and independence as reasons for me to keep on losing weight and live the skinny life I have always wanted to live. I hope you all enjoyed this and I hope what I had to say was not overly triggering. Until then, I will see you in the next submission. Take care, stay safe, and stay healthy, everybody. Edmund Pevensie from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe belongs to C.S. Lewis, Walden Media, and Disney. Jeff McCallister from Home Alone belongs to John Hughes and Chris Columbus.
