Diana Damrau
I review a recent English opera that stars one of my all time favorite sopranos, Diana Damrau, I think it’s more than time to let this out in the open. Enjoy the review and let me know your opinions as well.
Florian Sempey rises to the challenge to take on the role of Hamlet the Prince of Denmark, whose quest to avenge his father’s murder unravels in this concert version of Ambroise Thomas’s opera of the same name. Enjoy the review and let me know your opinions as well.
Ah, La Grande Madama Diana Damrau. Fresh from her role debut as Maria Stuarda in Zürich, she brought this iconic queen to Berlin accompanied by some equally wonderful singing actors. I know I should have mentioned this in the review, but I’ll say it anyway. I am anticipating the day she adds Anna Bolena and especially the Roberto Devereux Elisabetta I, as she will definitely knock these roles right out of the park. Diana Damrau, Matthew Polenzani, Mariusz Kwiecien and Nicolas Testè! With a scintillating cast of singers like this, this was a very worthwhile evening. Enjoy the review and let me know your opinions as well. P.S. I thought Patricia Racette was a decent host as she had enough charisma and charm to liven things up. Also, I do apologize for some of the background noise in this review as my flatmate had guests even though he was aware I was making this Vlog style review. Plus, this was made two years ago. So, I hope you enjoy this video.
Diana Damrau and Giacomo Meyerbeer. This is indubitably a most celestial combination, especially considering the fact that it has been a magnificent dream Frau Damrau has accomplished ever since she studied his music during her university years. After seven years of refurbishing, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden is back in town to reopen her grand gates with this uplifting Beethoven symphony headed by Herr Daniel Barenboim and starring such invigorating soloists like Frau Diana Damrau, Frau Okka von der Damerau, Herr Burkhard Fritz, and Herr René Pape. Enjoy the review and let me know your opinions as well.
Meine verehrte, ehrwürdige und edle Dame Diana Damrau strikes again as the poignant yet youthful Antonia, the seductive yet tempestuous Giulietta, and the elusive and beautiful Stella and she is joined by a cast of veritable superstars from Michael Spyres to Olga Pudova to Nicolas Testé to Angela Brower.
A heavenly first foray into the Bayerische Staatsoper courtesy of La Grande Madame et Déesse Diana Damrau!
