This piece of Brickercup vs Brickubbles fan art, which is part of BrickercupMasterX3’s PPG OT3 Month, is dedicated to Ria Marie aka riamarie33 who is celebrating her birthday today. So, Ria Marie, I wish you a most blessed, awesome, beautiful, great, and prosperous birthday. I wish you a lot of love, joy, happiness, and abundance in your life as an artist and as a person. This is also dedicated to all of the Brickercup and Brickubbles shippers out there. So, sit back, relax, and soak in that Buttercup x Brick x Bubbles love triangle goodness. Ladies and gentlemen, Powerpuff Girls fans of all ages, welcome to the first piece of fan work centering on the likes of Brick and Blossom, which I call “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Red”, as it is a word play on the Kermit the Frog’s solo “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green”. This Brick-centered episode of “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Red” takes place in Townsville High back in September 2009, when Brick, Buttercup, and Bubbles were in the eleventh grade. 17-year-old Brick Green may be the most popular, well-rounded, well-loved young man in school that girls would love to date and boys would be either green with envy, yearn to be his best friend, look up to him or even want to date him but it kind of comes at a price especially when he is in the middle of a cat-fight/tug-of-war challenge between 16-year-old Buttercup Utonium, who was the most athletic student and Volleyball MVP with a hard reputation, and her 15-year-old sister Bubbles Utonium, who was an extremely well-loved cheerleader for the Townsville Tigers as well as being heavily involved in the arts, music, and theater. As I said before, being Townsville High’s most popular male student may have its perks but it can get a little bit sticky when a love triangle such as this is involved. I definitely enjoyed making this come to fruition, as I can easily consider both Brickercup and Brickubbles far more exceptional than some other overrated RuffPuff pairing I know of that has been ubiquitous throughout the PPG fandom (*cough*Blossick*cough*). Moreover, I bet you already know who is my Brick-centered OTP and who is my Brick-centered cute, innocent pairing that works nicely as a BroTP or vice versa. Well, I hope you all enjoyed this piece of Brickercup vs Brickubbles fan art. Please let me know in the comments if you prefer Brickercup, Brickubbles or both and I will see you all next weekend for the second “It’s Not Easy Bein’ Red” installment. This time it will be a love triangle centering around Butch, Blossom, and Boomer and I am so freaking excited to make this happen. All right, everybody, take care and until the next time. Buttercup, Brick, and Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls belong to Craig McCracken and Cartoon Network.
Brickubbles
This piece of Brickubbles and Boomercup fanart, which is part of BrickercupMasterX3’s Boomercup Month, is dedicated to A.J. Miller aka AJthePPGfan who is celebrating his birthday today. So, A.J. I wish you a lot of love, joy, happiness, beauty, strength, triumph, and abundance on your very special day as well as in your life as an artist and as a person. This is also dedicated to all of the hardcore and awesome Brickubbles and Boomercup shippers out there. So, I hope you all enjoy this. I’m sure you all had crushes no matter where you are in your life and you might have had butterflies in your stomachs, thus giving you that sensation of feeling so enticed when you see the apple of your eye. Well, the Blues can pretty much attest to that, especially when they were teenagers. Ah, Boomer and Bubbles aka The Blues. They wear their emotions on their sleeves. They are the nicest and most sympathetic people of Team Xtreme. They are also really creative. They seemed to be truly and indubitably made for each other. As much as I am a huge Boomubbles fan and OTP shipper, as I do believe that they are the best color-coded couple, I will admit this, I also like Brickubbles and Boomercup so much as cute, innocent pairings. However, as you can tell, I am also a major Brickercup, Butchubbles, and Blossoomer fan and OTP shipper. At least, I can say that, in my most humble opinion, Brickubbles and Boomercup are more desirable in my eyes that Blossick and Butchercup combined, though they do not approach the OTP levels of Brickercup, Butchubbles, Blossutch, Blossoomer, and Boomubbles combined. Boomer is seventeen years old while Bubbles is fifteen years old and they are both in the eleventh grade all back in the year 2009. Bubbles the cheerleader, the girls’ track star, the star artist, the aspiring actress, singer, and musician, and the most lovable girl in school is totally enamored with seventeen-year-old Brick the most popular young man in school, the MVP of the basketball team, and one of Townsville’s most well-rounded students. Sure, she has her favorite teddy-bear boyfriend Boomer by her side and she loves her darling strongman Butch, but Bubbles goes crazy over Brick’s signature swagger and his way of showing the ladies a good time, which should be no surprise, as Brick and Bubbles have been really good friends when they were Kindergarteners and when the Ruffs and the Puffs joined forces as one amazing superhero team. Plus, they have each others’ backs for great measure. Boomer the MVP of the soccer team, his school band’s lead singer, the aspiring actor, the boys’ track star, the Renaissance man, and one of the most handsome young men in school is head over heels in love with sixteen-year-old Buttercup the MVP of the volleyball team, the toughest and strongest girl in school, and the all-around athlete. As much as he loves his darling Bubbles and is so enamored with Blossom’s brand of awesomeness, Boomer just can’t get his eyes off of how strong, tough, and determined Buttercup really is. However, we all know, at the end of the day, these were just silly, adorable teen crushes they had back in the days. At least one can rest assured, that the cuteness factor for these pairings held up rather well. Well, I hope you all enjoyed this piece of Brickubbles and Boomercup fanart. See you all in the next submission. Brick, Bubbles, Boomer, and Buttercup from The Powerpuff Girls belong to Craig McCracken and Cartoon Network.
Io temo… LEONORA Invano! INES Dubbio, ma tristo presentimento in me risvegli quest’uomo arcano! Tenta obbliarlo. LEONORA Che dici? Oh basti! INES Cedi al consiglio dell’amistà, cedi! LEONORA Obliarlo! Ah! tu parlasti detto che intender l’alma non sa. Di tale amor che dirsi mal può dalla parola, d’amor che intendo io sola, il cor s’inebriò. Il mio destino compiersi non può che a lui d’appresso. S’io non vivrò per esso, per esso morirò” -Tacea La Notte Placida, Leonora from Verdi’s Il Trovatore, Libretto by Salvatore Cammarano, first performance on January 19, 1853 at Rome’s Teatro Apollo, based on the play of the same name but in Spanish, El Trovador, by Antonio García Gutiérrez English Translation Courtesy of DM’s Opera Site: “LEONORA The serene night was silent and, lovely in the calm sky, the moon happily revealed its silvery and full face! When resounding in the air which till then had been so quiet, sweet and sad were heard the sounds of a lute, and a troubadour sang some melancholy verses. Verses, beseeching and humble, like a man praying to God: and in them was repeated a name, my name! I ran eagerly to the balcony… There he was; it was he! I felt a joy that only the angels are allowed to feel! To my heart, my ecstatic eyes, the earth seemed like heaven! INES What you’ve told me has filled my soul with anguish! I fear… LEONORA Needlessly… INES A sad but vague presentiment is stirred in me by this mysterious man! Try to forget him. LEONORA What are you saying? Enough! INES Give way to a friend’s advice, do give way! LEONORA Forget him! Ah, you’ve spoken a word that my soul cannot understand. With such love that words can scarcely tell, of a love that only I know, my heart is intoxicated. My fate can be fulfilled only at his side. If I can’t live for him, then for him, I’ll die.” This piece of Brickubbles fanart, which is part of KatyGorl’s Claim a PPG Pairing Month last September, is dedicated to Herb Montes aka HMontes, Kenny Andrade aka datteMEINUbayo, and Mat Brunet aka AniMat505 who celebrated their birthdays two days ago and Richard Cram aka RCBlazer who celebrated his birthday yesterday. So, Herb, Kenny, Mat, Richard I hope you gentlemen had such amazing, awesome, wonderful, thrilling, and beautiful birthdays. I wish you abundance, joy, love, luck, and prosperity in everything you do as artists and people. I would also love to dedicate this to all of the wonderful, awesome Brickubbles shippers out there. Finally, I would love to dedicate this to the great Madama Montserrat Caballé who unfortunately passed away yesterday from a gallbladder infection. Entonces Señora Caballé descansa en paz y gracias por su talento como una cantante famosa y brillante. Ah, Brickubbles or Brick x Bubbles. I know I mainly ship these two as my main BroTP because of the fact that OTP shippings for these two are Brickercup, for Brick, and for Bubbles, Butchubbles and Boomubbles, but I cannot deny how cute and innocent this pairing is and how infectious their brand of platonic and puppy love really is. I would go out of my way to say that this pairing is my second favorite Brick-centered pairing of all time, the first one being Brickercup because, hello RRB/PPG Pairing OTP for life, and right smack below Brickercup and Brickubbles is Blossick because I have grown tired and jaded of the whole Red Cap and Red Bow craze and I would rather pair these two up platonically. Plus, there is nothing more adorable than having a large-and-in-charge gentleman like Brick pair up really nicely with his favorite little sister-in-law Bubbles. Now, before I make you listen to Montserrat Caballé’s rendition of Leonora’s opening aria Tacea La Notte Placida from Verdi’s Il Trovatore, I would love to have a few words about my experience with listening to this wonderfully versatile diva. My very first experience with Madama Caballé was when I was ten years old and I was immediately fascinated with her, especially when I first listened to her rendition of Violetta’s Addio del Passato from La Traviata also by Verdi. Throughout time, I was fascinated by the repertoire she embraced from the Bel Canto dramatic coloratura soprano roles of Norma, Maria Stuarda, Anna Bolena, Elisabetta from Roberto Devereux, and Lucrezia Borgia to the full lyric soprano roles of Mimí, Liú, Fiordiligi, and Contessa Almaviva to the spinto soprano roles of Tosca, Leonora di Vargas, Elisabetta from Don Carlo, and Aida to the dramatic roles of Turandot, Sieglinde, and Isolde to her exploits in modern music with Freddie Mercury in the song Barcelona. I have always loved the focus, cleanliness, and purity of her voice whether she sang lyrically or dramatically. There was always something I admired from her and I feel so honored to call myself a devotee of hers. It is a shame I did not meet her in person, but the memories I have of her voice will always be kept in my heart, mind, and soul. So, without further ado, here is Montserrat Caballé singing Leonora’s opening aria Tacea La Notte alongside the Italian lyric soprano known for singing character roles Giuliana Matteini singing the role of Ines, Leonora’s confidante. Enjoy listening to this superb rendition. As for the aria…
“Try to be best ‘Cause you’re only a man And a man’s gotta learn to take it Try to believe Though the going gets rough That you gotta hang tough to make it History repeats itself Try and you’ll succeed Never doubt that you’re the one And you can have your dreams! You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down Fight ‘til the end Cause your life will depend On the strength that you have inside you Ah you gotta be proud Starin’ out in the cloud When the odds in the game defy you Try your best to win them all And one day, time will tell When you’re the one that’s standing there You’ll reach the final bell! You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down Fight ‘til you drop Never stop Can’t give up Til you reach the top (FIGHT!) You’re the best in town (FIGHT!) Listen to that sound A little bit of all you got Can never bring you down You’re the best! Around! Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down You’re the Best! Around!” – You’re the Best, Joe Esposito, Bill Conti, and Aimee Willis, June 23, 1984 This marks my final Brickubbles month submission for this year as heralded by my very good friend and fellow DeviantArtist the ever-phenomenal and ever-awesome Paula aka BrickercupMasterX3. Moreover, this Brickubbles month submission is dedicated to a fellow DeviantArtist by the name of Ilenia aka DynamisGD who is celebrating her birthday today. So, Ilenia, I hope you have a pleasant birthday and I hope you enjoy this piece of Brickubbles fan art. Tanti auguri a te e tutta la gioia e la felicitá per te. I know I was supposed to have turned this in days ago, but I had other plans and let’s just say that real life got the best of me. I am really sorry for the delay I hope you could forgive me for this really, really long wait. I wanted to make this Brickubbles month go out with a bang and I think this might as well be the submission to do it. Here we have our fabulous big brother-in-law little sister-in-law duo Brick and Bubbles, who are engaged in a sparring match and looking like they’re about to give each other their all, what with Brick being the sensei/senpai and Bubbles being the student/kohai. One cannot help but feel immersed by the dynamics these two have with Brick being like a mighty dragon and Bubbles being an elegant and graceful crane, as these animals represent them in terms of their personalities and it’s a nice mesh and clash between fire and water. Plus, one can easily imagine Brick and Bubbles to be the closest of sparring partners on a ritualistic level, where Bubbles respects Brick as if though he were her older brother from another mother and Brick can acknowledge how teachable, adaptable, and skilled Bubbles truly is as a fighter and as a person. As to be expected, the dragon was an obvious choice for Brick, as it represents might, strength, valor, and ferocity. These are the traits he bears as well as being a skilled user of pyrokinesis. He is someone who demands respect and loves to be heard, but when he does not get it, boy, does he get pissed, so beware. The crane was an easy choice for Bubbles, as it is very well-known for its grace and placidity. It is also a bird which usually finds itself on shallow waters. Ergo, animals and the element of water are very much those features which resemble Bubbles in terms of her affiliation with these two, as she can also speak the animal language and is flexible, graceful, and fluid like a calm lake. When Brick and Bubbles are combined together they definitely form a team-up few duos can ever rival. With Brick’s strength, fierceness, and commanding presence and Bubbles’ agility, grace, and fluidity of movement, they can definitely give any opponent a reason to run for the hills. So, Brick, Bubbles, do you have anything to say to our celebrant? Brick and Bubbles: Sure, we do. Brick: We hope you have a kickass birthday, Ilenia. Bubbles: On behalf of Team Xtreme, we wish you a lot of love and joy in the years to come. Thanks, you guys. Well, that’s it for this submission. During the time I made this I was listening to You’re the Best Around, as I was thinking of a nice song to complement this final Brickubbles month submission. Eye of the Tiger was a bit too overused, so that was out of the question. Then came Joe Esposito’s You’re the Best, which I thought fit Brick and Bubbles as karate fighters very well. So, I hope you also enjoy listening to this song, as it was my drive to pull everything together for this final Brickubbles month submission. You’re the Best by Joe Esposito as part of the Regular Show soundtrack. Take care, everybody. Brick and Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls belong to Craig McCracken and Cartoon Network.
This submission as part of BrickercupMasterX3’s Brickubbles month is dedicated to a few people I have sadly lost in my life growing up: my maternal grandma, Lydia Aznar-Alfonso, who passed away eight years ago from intestinal cancer, my chemistry teacher in third-year high school, Mr. Nicolas Apelinga, who passed away about three weeks ago, and one of my paternal uncles, Francis Duran, who as stated by my mom passed away today. I would also love to dedicate this piece of RRB/PPG fan art to a fellow filmmaker who I had the pleasure of working with, Steffen Kaminski whose father passed away. May you all rest in peace, you will all be in my prayers and may the Heavenly Father keep you all in His realm. This is going to be the final Brickubbles Flashback, chronicling Brick’s and Bubbles’ major highlight in college. Technically, this is my second-to-the-last Brickubbles submission, as I have one more coming up. Furthermore, this flashback takes place in June 2014, where Brick, Butch, and Boomer were twenty-two years old, Blossom and Buttercup were twenty-one years old, and Bubbles was twenty years old. This was also the month where Buttercup gave birth to Blaze, hers and Brick’s first son, thus making Brick and Buttercup married while entering their fourth year of college. Moreover, since Boomer and Bubbles were the first to marry while still in college, they had their first three children, twins Bailey and Barley who were two years old and Brittany who was a year old. Butch and Blossom were engaged, as she stated to him that she would rather marry when they graduate college to which he gladly agreed. Enjoy this final flashback to the past. Brickubbles is kept as a loving platonic relationship, while the real couples in this flashback are Brickercup, Blossutch, and Boomubbles. There’s also a bit of Bunnitch here. Birth. Childhood. Adolescence. Adulthood. Middle Age. Old Age. Death. This is the life cycle of an average human being and is basically what we all go through in life. Everything influences us to be the people that we are from our environment to our family to our friends to our teachers to society as a whole. There will be good days and there will be bad days, depending on what one makes of it. Speaking of which, picture yourself as this young will-to-be parent. The thought of it is rather intimidating considering the responsibilities of being one, but with enough moral support and unconditional love one can definitely raise one’s child to be the best he or she can be. Submitted for the approval of The Brickubbles Flashbacks, I call this story Life’s and Love’s Gift. Brick, Bubbles, please take the floor. Brick and Bubbles: Thanks, Antoni. Bubbles: And our many condolences to those wonderful people you mentioned. Brick: Yeah, man, I hope you’ll be okay. Me: I will. Let’s dedicate this show to them. (Team Xtreme Headquarters. Blaze, Brent, and Brooke enter racing in the living room with Buttercup. Bailey and Barley are playing a card game akin to Yu-Gi-Oh. And Boomer enters playfully chasing Brittany and Birdie. They land on the huge couch where Brick and Bubbles were sitting.) Brick: Well, hello darling, and my little scamps. (Brick gives Buttercup a kiss and ruffles Blaze’s, Brent’s and Brooke’s hair.) Bailey: Ha! I got Flaminius. He’s gonna roast you alive. There’s no way you can beat me. Barley: Well, bro. I got Dasher! He’s gonna shock you down. (Bailey and Barley realize the attack level both cards have.) Bailey and Barley: Aww…dangit. Another tie. (Boomer approaches Bailey and Barley.) Boomer: I see you enjoyed your game. Now, how about we hop on the couch with your sisters, cousins, mom, your uncle, and auntie? Bailey and Barley: Okay, dad! (Bailey and Barley sit beside Boomer, as he has Birdie on his lap. Bubbles has Brittany sitting beside her. Buttercup has Brooke on her lap and Brick has Brent on his lap with Blaze sitting beside him.) Brent: Dad, I wanna be like you, mom, Uncle Boomer, and Auntie Bubbles when I grow up! Brittany: Yeah, we get to do all sorts of adventures. Blaze: Fight bad guys. Brooke: Fly around the city! Barley: Help out people in need. Bailey: Stop fires from happening! Birdie: And do all that stuff before we go to bed! (Brick, Boomer, Buttercup, and Bubbles chuckle.) Brick: We know you guys will be great heroes. Boomer: There will be a lot of hard work to be done. Buttercup: But if you’re tough and brave enough, we’re all sure you can make it. Bailey: Speaking of making it, when are Uncle Butch, Auntie Blossom, Brendan, Blake, and Belle coming back from grocery shopping? Bubbles: Well, they should be back in an hour. It looks like they’re getting as much good food as they can. Boomer: Sometimes I still can’t believe how much all of you kids have grown. Bailey, Barley, you’re growing taller and stronger every time I see you. And Brittany, you’re getting a lot smarter than I thought. Bubbles: And Birdie, let’s not forget about how fast you continue to run. Bailey, Barley, Brittany, and Birdie: Aw, mom, dad, thanks. Buttercup: Speaking of growing, Brooke your speech is getting clearer every time. That’s great. Brick: And Blaze, your mom has seen how tougher you continue to grow. Brent, you’re even fast enough to give your Uncle Boomer and Auntie Bubbles a good race. Blaze: Thanks, Dad, we’re really happy to have you as our parents. Brick: Bubs, I can’t even believe how fast we became parents. Even during college. Bubbles: Yeah, I can’t believe it too. It was clear that Boomie and I were meant for each other. So, getting married while being in college was crazy, but…
This Brickubbles Month submission, as spearheaded by my dear friend BrickercupMasterX3, is dedicated to a fellow DeviantArtist by the name of StrayF0rk whose birthday was celebrated yesterday. So, StrayF0rk, I hope you had a pleasant birthday and I wish you a lot of amazing things as a fellow artist. This second part of The Brickubbles High School Flashback was certainly long in the making. It took a lot of conceptualizing and figuratively banging my head how Brick’s and Bubbles’ journey in adolescence was going to end. So, here’s the final part of their time in High School. The pairings involved here are Brick x Bubbles (Brickubbles), Boomer x Bubbles (Boomubbles), Brick x Buttercup (Brickercup), Butch x Blossom (Blossutch), and Mitch x Bunny (Bunnitch). This flashback still takes place in the summer of 2009, though spanning from July to August. There comes a time where relationships are either repaired or newly beginning. A repaired relationship is great, especially when you know that both life partners can start fresh and keep going with their lives together. A new relationship after experiencing the pangs of a breakup is just as great, as the past is left behind and what needs to be considered is the future. How does everything wrap up well in such a nice package? Submitted for the approval of The Brickubbles Flashbacks, I call this story Rekindling and Renewal. Brick, Bubbles, you have the floor. Brick and Bubbles: Thanks, Antoni. Brick: Hey, Bubs, remember that rabbit girl stuffed doll I gave to you when we were at the amusement park down at the pier? Bubbles: Yeah, I gave it to Brittany as a hand-me-down. She and Birdie love to share it too. Plus, that doll kind of reminded me of the imaginary friend Blossom, Buttercup, and I had to create to fight off Patches. Brick: Who’s Patches? Bubbles: Oh, he was Mike’s ex-imaginary friend. Poor Mike got blamed for all of the mishaps when it was actually Patches who caused mayhem. It was up to me and my sisters to think up our own imaginary friend to combat him. Brick: Wow! How are Mike and Robin these days? Bubbles: They’re doing really well. Mike’s a child psychologist and Robin’s an English Literature teacher working on their PhDs. Boomie and I paid them a visit and we even spent some time with their three children, Sarah, Cayden, and Michelle. They are such darlings. Brick: Glad to hear. Like I said, I cannot even believe we dated each other. How did Boomer feel about it? Bubbles: He put that all behind him Brick: That’s good. Because the last thing I could’ve done was hurt him so bad. Bubbles: Yeah. (Flashback to July 2009 begins. The then seventeen-year-old Brick and the then fifteen-year-old Bubbles are at the amusement park down at the pier.) Brick: Here we are, Bubs. We got the whole day to ourselves. Bubbles: That’s for sure, Brick. I don’t even know what ride we should go on first. And that makes me even more excited! Brick: Well what are we waiting for let’s go! (Montage of Brick and Bubbles in the amusement park rides, akin to Beastboy’s and Terra’s amusement park date from the original Teen Titans, begins. Brick and Bubbles are first seen on a rollercoaster called The Sharpshooter. Brick is clearly enjoying the thrill of the ride while Bubbles is rather terrified, to say the least. After that, they are riding on bumper cars laughing. Following that is photo taking time at the photo booth where Brick and Bubbles are making silly faces and choose the best photos including the one that is shown. Brick participates in a game where throws a baseball at five metal bottles and all three tries have ended up being successful to the point where he gets a rabbit girl stuffed doll, which looks like the Powerpuff Girls’ imaginary friend from the episode Imaginary Fiend. Bubbles hugs Brick tightly and he blushes. They walk arm in arm to the Ferris wheel, where they watch the sunset together.) Bubbles: It was such a great day, wasn’t it Brick? Brick: Sure was, Bubs. Who knew it’s been a week since we went out as you know… Bubbles: Boyfriend and girlfriend? Brick (somberly): Yeah. Bubbles: Is everything okay? Brick: Yeah, everything’s cool. I think I’m kinda hungry after all the rides we went to. Bubbles: Me too. Brick: I know an awesome burger joint where we can have dinner. They don’t just serve beef burgers, but also chicken, turkey, and even fish burgers. What do you say to that? Bubbles: I think I would love that. (Cut to the boardwalk, specifically at the restaurant Fish McFood, the same place where Brick, Butch, and Boomer were causing a ruckus and getting their burgers from the episode Boy Toys. The place as of 2009 looked a lot more stylized in comparison to the 1998 design, especially evidenced in the restaurant logo, as it has flashing lights. Inside the restaurant, Brick is munching down on a quarter pounder with cheddar cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, onions, lettuce, tomato, sriracha and mayo sauce, and gherkins, while Bubbles is munching down on a salmon burger with avocado, onions, Romaine lettuce, and aioli. They even share a bowl of cajun fries, which they also managed to munch down.) Brick: This place brings back a lot of memories. I can’t believe my brothers and I were such monstrous little crapheads back then wrecking the place. Bubbles: I know, but that was then. You guys just didn’t have a great role model until Miss Bellum came. And look at you. You’re the most popular, handsome, well-rounded guy in Townsville High, Butch is the superathlete alongside Buttercup, and, well, Boomer, he’s the most talented and most loved guy in school. Brick: Wow. Thanks, Bubs, you really…
This is today’s Brickubbles month submission, as heralded by my dear friend and fellow DeviantArtist BrickercupMasterX3, which I know I was supposed to submit yesterday, but I was super busy with my Blossutch fanart, so I do apologize for the delay. So, I hope you all enjoy this submission because today we are having another Brickubbles Flashback with these two close friends in High School and something tells me that teen melodrama is about to set afoot. And what other pairing do I see here? Why it’s none other than my most favorite and the healthiest of the color-coded pairings Boomubbles (Boomer x Bubbles). Also featured in this flashback are Floyd and Lloyd Floyjodson, Mitch Mitchelson, Harry Pitt, Mike Believe, and Elmer Sglue who, in turn, serve as Boomer’s best friends as well as his bandmates with them respectively being on the saxophones, the drums, the bass, the keyboard, and the synthesizer. They serve a purpose, as Boomer is going to be singing something. There’s also a hint of Mitch/Princess, some implied Blossick and Butchercup, and some implied Brickercup, Blossutch Robike, Bunnitch, and PittBean, but you will have to read for yourself what happens to them. Sit back, relax, and enjoy. This Brickubbles Flashback takes place between the tail-end of the tenth grade and summer break all in 2009, where Brick, Floyd, Lloyd, Mitch, Harry, and Boomer were sixteen and then turned seventeen, Mike and Elmer were fifteen going on sixteen, and Bubbles was fifteen. Think back to a time when you were a teenager. Those meant a lot of things like finding yourself, being in a relationship, knowing who your best friends are, all the classes you have to take in school, plans you have to make for college, breakups in a relationship etcetera, etcetera. I’m also sure that being a teenager also meant doing pretty stupid things because of whatever reason, which will end up being regretted later in life. Now in terms of being in a relationship, there’s no doubt that you had that one friend who stuck by your side through thick and thin and you had another who was not only so close to you as a really good friend but has somehow become your boyfriend or your girlfriend. The question is, how would you feel about that first choice of that said friend who stuck by your side through thick and thin? Submitted for the approval of the Brickubbles Flashbacks I call this story Crushes and Breakups. As always, we have our dear friends, Brick and Bubbles, to tell this story of their adolescence. Brick and Bubbles: Thanks, Antoni! Brick: Hey, Bubs, check this out. Bubbles: What is it, Brick? Brick (shows Bubbles his old basketball attire): Remember the time in High School I used to play for the varsity team in basketball? Bubbles: Yeah, you and Butch were the MVPs and I was a cheerleader alongside Bunny, Princess, Robin, Julie Bean, Julie Smith, Susie, Kristen, and Clara. I could still remember parts of our chant. (Bubbles excitedly does her cheer dance routine.) Townsville Tigers are on the prowl. We won’t rest until we growl. Gooooooo TIGERS!!!!! Brick: You still got it in you, Bubs. I also remember the school colors by heart. Red for valor, courage, and strength and gold for wealth, leadership, and victory. (Brick and Bubbles sigh longingly.) Brick: And who could ever forget the time you had a crush on me? Bubbles: Well, you were the most popular guy in school, Butch and Buttercup were the most athletic, Boomie was the most talented, Bloss was the one with the most duties, and Bunny and I were the most artistic. Brick: True. Let’s also not forget you were still dating Boom Boom at the time. Bubbles: Yeah, that was true. Boy, I did get myself into such a big pickle. Brick: Bubs, trust me you were not the only one. (Flashback to the summer of 2009 begins. The then sixteen-going-on-seventeen-year-old Brick is shooting some hoops and doing general basketball practice with his teammates Butch, Boomer, Mitch, Floyd, Lloyd, and Harry. While Bubbles is doing cheerleading practice with Bunny, Princess, Robin, Julie Bean, Julie Smith, Susie, Kristen, and Clara.) Boomer: Hey, Mitch, I’m open! (Mitch passes the basketball to Boomer who then proceeds to pass it to Butch. Finally Butch passes the ball to Brick who proceeds to make a slam dunk.) Butch, Boomer, Mitch, Floyd, Lloyd, and Harry: WOOHOO! YEAH, BRICK!!! Harry: Man, you always give the best slam dunks. Butch: Yeah, we’re so gonna cream the Citysville Serpents’ ass- Boomer: And have the winning cup! Brick: You got that right, guys! We’re so gonna wing it in three weeks time! (Cut to Bubbles, Bunny, Princess, Robin, Julie Bean, Julie Smith, Susie, Kristen, and Clara who are doing their cheerleading routine. Robin functions as the cheerleading captain.) Robin: Okay, ladies, we got everything in sync. Princess: I do concur. But don’t you think that our twirls were a bit off-timed? Bunny: That’s why practice makes perfect, Princess. Princess: I know that. Robin: Well, looks like it’s a wrap today. Great job, ladies. (Just as Bubbles and her cheerleading are about to depart the gymnasium, she stays and observes Brick and his basketball team practicing. Brick, Butch, Mitch, Floyd, Lloyd, Boomer, and Harry wrap up their practice. Brick then takes notice of Bubbles.) Brick: Hey, Bubs, what’s happenin’? (Bubbles stands petrified and enamored and is blushing. Her face is about to approach being as red as a tomato.) Bubbles (thinking, as her inner monologue is at a speedy rate complete with her trademark squeaky voice when she gets excited and her face is turning as red as ever): Oh my gosh! Brick is such a hottie! A hunk! A god! Oh, those muscles of his! He and his bros…
This Brickubbles submission, as part of BrickercupMasterX3’s Brickubbles month, is dedicated to a phenomenal DeviantArtist who celebrated his birthday yesterday, a fine and awesome gentleman by the name of Leonidafremov (Leonid Afremov). So, Mr. Afremov, I hope you had a magnificent birthday and I hope you enjoy this piece of fan art and this story that I made. Today’s Brickubbles Flashback shows the time when Brick and Bubbles were in the seventh grade and there was a mathematics problem to be dealt with. Mathematics. Whether one likes it, loves it or hates it, this subject is very much part of everyone’s life. One can use it when going to the grocery store, telling time, balancing one’s checkbook, and a plethora of other activities. I bet you recall the time you can’t stand math and try to avoid it as much as you can. However, there was that one person who was really good in this subject who actually inspired you at least tolerate it. I guess that person is worth being grateful for. Submitted for the approval of The Brickubbles Flashbacks, I call this story, Problem Solved. Brick: Thanks for that usually dramatic intro, man. Me: No problem, Brick. Now, let’s get this show on the row. (Bubbles is rummaging through some old paraphernalia and finds a golden makeshift trophy with a plus sign.) Bubbles: Hey, Brick. Do you remember this little trophy I gave to you? (Brick takes time to look at the trophy and sees the inscription “Best Math Tutor Ever!”) Brick: Yeah, I think I do. I still can’t believe it was like what twelve or thirteen years ago. Bubbles: I believe you helped me with this ratio and proportion I had when we were in the seventh grade. Brick: Ah, the seventh grade. That was something. (Flashback to the autumn of 2005 begins. Brick was thirteen and Bubbles was eleven. The entire action takes place in Team Xtreme headquarters’ study hall. Bubbles is sitting alone on her desk and looks slightly flustered at the paper with a ratio and proportion problem. She is trying to find what N is but is still confused.) Bubbles (thinking): Two-hundred by three-hundred is equal to N by six. What does this mean? Perhaps I should ask Brick he’s good at math. (Brick is just walking through the hallways. Bubbles stands up from her chair and spots him.) Bubbles: Brick! Brick: Yeah, Bubs. Bubbles: Can you please help me with this math problem? Brick: Sure thing. (Brick enters the study hall, as Bubbles sits down on her desk. He then looks at the paper and he has a confident smile on his face.) Brick: Well, Bubs. It’s really simple. All you gotta do is first turn these into fractions. Don’t forget that two-hundred and N are the nominators and three-hundred and six are the denominators. (Bubbles does what he tells him.) Brick: Now that you’ve turned them into fractions, you have to cross multiply. What’s six times two-hundred? (Bubbles observes where the six is and where the two-hundred is.) Bubbles: One thousand two-hundred. Brick: Correct! Now divide that by 300 and you get your N. (Bubbles does the equation and is beaming with confidence. To her joy, she finally got the answer.) Bubbles: N is four. So that means, two-hundred by three-hundred is equal to four by six. Brick: Bingo, Bubs! (Bubbles excitedly writes down the solution and the answer.) Bubbles: Yes, I got it! Oh, thank you so much, Brickie! Brick (nervously): Hehe. Hey, I was really happy to help. (Bubbles hugs Brick and he reciprocates by hugging her back.) Bubbles: You are definitely an awesome math tutor. I owe you one! Brick: Aw, shucks, Bubs. (The following morning is a Saturday. Bubbles is hiding something, as Brick is eating his breakfast.) Bubbles: Good morning, Brick. Brick: Morning, Bubs. Bubbles: I made you something. First, you gotta close your eyes and hold out your hands. (Brick closes his and holds out his palms. Bubbles give him his gift.) Bubbles: Now you can open your eyes now. (Brick opens his eyes and to his delight and surprise it is a makeshift golden trophy with a plus and an inscription, “Best Math Tutor Ever!”) Brick: Bubs, thanks so much. I’m so honored. I don’t know what to say. Bubbles: You’re very welcome, Brick. I carved it out some old gold items I found in the dump and I did all the fine-tuning. It took hours to do this. You truly deserve it, Brick. You really helped me. Now, I’m more motivated to do great in math and I’m not afraid of it anymore thanks to you. Brick: I’m so happy to hear it, Bubs. Bubbles: I will definitely remember this moment. The now 24-year-old Bubbles: And I still do. The now 26-year-old Brick: To this very day. Brick and Bubbles: The End. I declare this meeting of The Brickubbles Flashback closed. See you in the next flashback where our main protagonists look back at their high school years. This is something I am very excited about. One has to leave it up to someone like Mr. Green to be the great father and teacher he is for the Rowdyruff Boys. He certainly raised them well and everything he taught them was especially absorbed by Brick. Let’s also give credit to Miss Bellum, known at that time as Mrs. Bellum-Green, who ensured that her sons have a more stable home life than what has been offered by HIM and Mojo Jojo. It’s quite amazing that someone like him can turn out to be so well-rounded. First proving that he can do the right thing, then showing his artistic talents, and now proving himself to…
This Brickubbles submission, as part of BrickercupMasterX3’s Brickubbles Month, is dedicated to a fellow DeviantArtist KingRyHuff, who celebrated his birthday yesterday. So, I hope you had such an amazing and I wish you a lot of amazing endeavors to come. Welcome to the second installment of The Brickubbles Flashbacks. This time we’re going back to 2003, where Brick and Bubbles were eleven and nine years old respectively and in the fifth grade. One can say that this was one of their highlights during their elementary school years. Submitted for the approval of The Brickubbles Flashbacks, I call this story Arts and Crafts and Friendship. With that said, Brick, Bubbles, you have the floor. Brick and Bubbles: Thanks, Antoni! Bubbles: Brick, do you remember Miss Scara? Brick: Oh, you mean our former art teacher. Bubbles: I still can’t believe she went from being Mask Scara to finally giving up the whole supervillainess to be an art teacher in Townsville International Academy. She truly was one of the best art teachers we ever had. Brick: I can still remember the project we had to do together. Brick and Bubbles: Paint an idealized version of your good friend. (Flashback to 2003 begins. Brick, aged 11, and Bubbles, aged 9, are walking home from school with their canvases in hand. They look at each other with a smile.) Bubbles: So, Brick, I’d like to see what you painted. I’m sure your work is really great. Brick: Aw, you know I’m not as great as an artist compared to you. Bubs. But since you asked for it, here you go. (Brick shows his canvas. It is a painting of Bubbles in 18th-century women’s attire complete with a frock, a three-cornered hat, and an elegant-looking hairstyle reminiscent of all the noblewomen at the time. In the background are two roses on each opposite side.) Bubbles: Wow, Brick. It’s beautiful. Brick: I…uh…call this one The Lady of the Court because that’s how I see you, Bubs. You are elegant and ladylike and you know it and you always like to look really pretty and cute. Bubbles: Aw, shucks, Brick. By the way, here’s mine of you. (Bubbles shows her canvas. It is a painting of Brick as a rock star with his trademark red cap, red shirt, and long orange hair, a black leather jacket, and an electric guitar. He is surrounded by flames and a gold wall is behind him.) Brick: Bubs, this is amazing. Bubbles: I call this one Musical Ignition because I have always seen you as the person who wants to be a rock star and you are a cool person to hang out with. Plus, I really love your fire powers. Brick: You know something, Bubs? Bubbles: Yeah? Brick: I think we’re gonna be art buds for life. (Brick and Bubbles giggle, as they continue to walk home.) The now 26-year-old Brick: And we still are. The now 24-year-old Bubbles: To this very day. Brick and Bubbles in the present: The End. I declare this meeting of The Brickubbles Flashbacks closed. See you in the next post. The idea of having Mask Scara from the Season 6 episode A Made Up Story as a reformed character and art teacher sort of came to my mind by complete chance. I figure that instead of using her silly makeup to take over the world, she could use her skills as an artist to mold young minds into doing something really creative, hence her reforming into an art teacher. This managed to also tie in very well with the then eleven-year-old Brick and the then nine-year-old Bubbles. One also has to leave it up to Miss Scara and Bubbles to tap into Brick’s artistic side and for Brick to see how graceful and lovely Bubbles is as a person. Therefore, Brick and Bubbles have had a gig where they called themselves Fab Art Buddies for Life during their years as children. Well, I hope you all enjoyed this post and piece of Brickubbles fan art. Until then, see you in the next post. Brick and Bubbles from The Powerpuff Girls belong to Craig McCracken and Cartoon Network.
This Brickubbles submission, as part of BrickercupMasterX3’s Brickubbles month, is dedicated to a phenomenal DeviantArtist by the name of NostalgicChills whose works especially involving The Lion King and many other animated movies and shows manage to emotionally stir me in terms of the feel, style, and everything else about them and who is also celebrating her birthday today. So, Nostalgic Chills, I wish you a most pleasant, blessed, and amazing birthday and many more awesome years as an artist to come. This is the first of the many one-shots that I would like to call The Brickubbles Flashbacks in which Brick’s and Bubbles’ friendship is witnessed throughout the years from childhood to teenhood to adulthood. What better way to start this series of one-shots than with their time in Pokey Oaks Kindergarten. Sometimes the people you meet are not always what they seem from the beginning. An enemy can turn into a friend and vice versa. Moreover, a person’s personality and traits can change with time, with the environment, and even through a family raises him or her. But what if someone who hated your guts went out of his way to protect you? Would that person become your good friend? Or will he just turn back to his old ways? Submitted for the approval of The Brickubbles Flashbacks, I call this story… (I throw sugar and snips of dog fur on the campfire.) Saving Mr. Octi. Brick: Uh, dude. Aren’t you being a bit overdramatic here? Bubbles: Yeah, it’s not a horror story. It’s just about the time Brick gave Octi back to me from Mitch during our kindergarten years. Me: I was trying to build up the atmosphere. I’ll let you guys have the floor. Brick: Thanks, man. Twenty years, huh, Bubs. Bubbles: Yeah, who knew our friendship grew at that time. Brick: And to think we started out as bitter enemies and look at us now. We’ve grown from the half-pints we were to a full-fledged superhero team. Especially now since I have BC as my wife and we got three kids of our own, Bloss is really happy with my favorite bro, Butch, and their three kids, Mitch has Bunny and their two tykes, and you got Boomer and your four kids. Plus, having you as my closest sister-in-law, that’s really saying something. Bubbles: I remember all of this like it was just yesterday. (Flashback begins in Pokey Oaks Kindergarten’s playground in the summer of 1998. Brick, Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd were six years old and Bubbles was four years old. The children are playing are sorts of games, sports, and other physical activities. Bubbles is in the corner near the sandbox playing with Octi.) Bubbles (giggles): Oh, Octi, you’re the best friend I ever have. What would you like to do today? (Three shadows approach behind Bubbles, two tall and one shorter than them. They belong to Floyd and Lloyd Floyjodson and Mitch Mitchelson.) Mitch: Awww… Ain’t that precious. Widdle Bubbles playing with her dumb Octi doll! Floyd and Lloyd: Yeah, her dumb Octi doll! (Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd cackle.) Bubbles: Take that back! Octi is not dumb! He’s a smart, caring octopus and my best friend! Mitch: Oh, really. (Mitch harshly snatches Octi away from Bubbles.) Floyd: Who’s gonna save him now? Lloyd: Come on and get him! (Bubbles charges at Mitch but he pushes her down.) Mitch: Ha! As if you can ever save him! (Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd laugh boisterously. This causes Bubbles to bawl her eyes out much like in All Chalked Up when Buttercup crushed her chalk.) Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd: Awww… Look! The little baby is crying! (Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd continue to laugh and Bubbles continues to wail and cry loudly.) Brick: Hey! Dorkwads! (Mitch, Floyd, Lloyd, and Bubbles turn towards Brick’s direction. The expression he is wearing on his face is more than just disgust. It is fury, rage, and unspeakable terror rolled up into one terrifying package.) Mitch: Oh no! It’s Brick! Bubbles (as she stops crying): Brick? Floyd and Lloyd: Uh…How ya doin’- Brick: Don’t how you doin’ man me, ya creeps! Mitch: Isn’t Butch supposed to be- Brick: He’s with Boom, Bloss, and BC playing dodgeball! (Cut to Butch, Boomer, Blossom, and Buttercup who are about to play dodgeball.) Boomer: I just hope Brick doesn’t pummel Mitch too bad. Buttercup: Mitch may think he’s tough but I think he’s no match for Brick. Blossom: Knowing what happened I highly doubt Mitch will get out of this alive. Especially based on how Bubbles’ crying was heard from where we currently stand. Butch: All right, we get it. Mitch took Octi away from Bubs and Brick said he’ll be right back to teach him a lesson, can we start the game now? Please? (Cut back to Brick who is snarling at Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd like an angry tiger. He has them cornered. Bubbles is frozen with fear at Brick’s boundless anger.) Mitch (quaking): Hey, hey listen, man, we were just- Brick: SHUT UP!!!! Mitch (still quaking): We were just having fun with Bubbles, right, Floyd, Lloyd? Floyd and Lloyd (nervously and hesitantly): Yeah, yeah- Brick (even more enraged grabbing Mitch by the collar): Shut up and give me Octi! NOW!!!!! (Mitch is trembling with fear, as he shakily hands over Octi to Brick. Brick then grunts, as he shoves Mitch to the ground.) Brick: If I see you, idiots, messing around Bubbles and my side of the turf again… Mitch: Messing around with Bubbles? We just wanted to play with her, man. Floyd and Lloyd: Yeah, play with her- Brick: As I was saying. If I catch you losers pulling that stupid stunt again, I’m gonna bludgeon, mash, and crush your skulls open and destroy what’s left of you. Now get out! (Brick is preparing to punch them by cracking his knuckles. As if on cue, Mitch, Floyd, and Lloyd run like bats out of Hell.) Bubbles (thinking in voiceover): Tell me I’m not dreaming….
