To say that this production of Verdi’s La Forza del Destino at the Deutsche Oper Berlin left so much to be desired is a mere understatement, but how did all the singers persevere in this extremely messy production? Please find out in my review and let me know your opinions as well.
One young tenor who is on the cusp of international stardom, one gorgeous full lyric soprano, and one veteran basso cantante took to the stage to take on the iconic roles of Faust, Marguerite, and Mephistopheles. Enjoy the review and let me know your opinions as well.
Ah, La Grande Madama Diana Damrau. Fresh from her role debut as Maria Stuarda in Zürich, she brought this iconic queen to Berlin accompanied by some equally wonderful singing actors. I know I should have mentioned this in the review, but I’ll say it anyway. I am anticipating the day she adds Anna Bolena and especially the Roberto Devereux Elisabetta I, as she will definitely knock these roles right out of the park. Enjoy the review and let me know your opinions as well.
How worthwhile is it to have some Deutsche Oper Berlin veterans in this fine Da Ponte/Mozart opera?
