The Splendid Seven

This screenshot motivational poster is highly pro-Sesshoumaru, pro-Shuran, pro-Inuyasha, pro-Hakkaku, pro-Ginta, pro-Ayame, pro-Shunran, pro-SessAyaInu, pro-ShuHakGinShun, pro-SessAya, pro-InuAya, pro-GinShun, and has a few pro-Toran, pro-Ayumi, pro-Karan, pro-ShuAyu, and pro-HakKar moments. Moreover, this is also highly anti-Miroku, anti-Kouga, anti-Sango, anti-Kagome, and anti-Kaede. Sit back, relax, and revel in my thoughts on why I strongly believe Sesshoumaru, Shuran, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran make an exceptional seven-member hero team, bear a great friendship with each other, capitalize on boundless teamwork, and have a bond that is really deep and meaningful.

What would happen if you were to combine three powerful canine yokai warriors, two panther yokai siblings, and two wolf yokai brothers or, shall I say, my favorite trio consisting of Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame and my favorite quartet consisting of Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran, who are in turn my most favorite young adult characters of Inuyasha? You would get the greatest seven-person band all of Feudal Era Japan ever laid their eyes on thanks to their magnificent strength as combatants, undying loyalty to each other, and keeping an awesomely tight bond as the best of friends. This also means no cowardice, no soap opera antics, no falsehoods, no God-forsaken “Sit” commands, no double standards, no lame love triangles, no over-saturation of angst, and definitely no unnecessary melodrama.

When combining these seven wonderful characters from Inuyasha, several thoughts came rushing to my head, which were boiled down to the following statements. Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha did deserve to join forces as brothers given how strong and powerful they are as dog yokai warriors. Sesshoumaru did not need to be alone with just Jaken, Rin, and Ah-Un and even having Kagura bear this crush on him, let alone trying to use Sesshoumaru as her personal means of gaining freedom from Naraku. Inuyasha truly deserved better friends than Miroku’s flippant pervertedness, Sango’s weakness and being such a sheep towards Kagome, Kagome’s whiny, manipulative, shrewish damsel-in-distress behind, and Shippou’s brattiness plus Kaede constantly taking Kagome’s side in regards to thinking that they could work as a team which they did not do too well at all. Ayame definitely deserved a much better life partner than Kouga’s cowardly, bluffing behind and deserved to shine on her own terms. Shuran deserved to use his magnificent strength and lightning powers for great things. Hakkaku and Ginta deserved greater and stronger friends than that loser Kouga and deserved to be far more than just Kouga’s posse. Finally, Shunran deserved to feel truly happy with great friends such as Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, and Ayame, her darling beau Ginta, and her favorite big brother Shuran. Ergo, this is the group that should have ended up having a much healthier bond and be truly united in all of their efforts.

The way I see it, Sesshoumaru, Shuran, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran or The Splendid Seven would definitely give The Justice League a run for their money because their different capabilities make them stronger than one thinks.

Sesshoumaru bears nobility, courage, and an iron-clad will which make him worthy of the daiyokai title and his friends’ respect and he will never flinch when it comes to striking his enemies down with his claws even when they spew poison. He also does a fine job at encouraging Shuran to be a bit more logical with his attacks, his younger brother Inuyasha to become a whole lot stronger than he already is, both Hakkaku and Ginta to stand up for themselves more often, Ayame to never cease being independent and determined, and Shunran to take things a bit more seriously.

Shuran bears the strength of ten million men and is always ready and willing to give his foes a good pounding and a few shocks to their system. In spite of his super tough and strong guy persona, Shuran is actually a loyal friend and akin to a cuddly teddy bear inside, especially when it comes to giving his dear friends and beloved little sister Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran his signature bear hug to show how much he deeply appreciates them as the greatest people he ever met.

Inuyasha is brute strength, relentless resilience, and amazing combat prowess incarnate who is consistent with his powerful attacks thanks to his claws, fists, and fangs, especially when he transforms into his full yokai form does he truly obliterate his enemies to smithereens. He enjoys having sparring matches with Sesshoumaru, strength contests with Shuran, running marathons with Hakkaku and Ginta, have quiet moments in the forests with Ayame, and engage in tickling games with Shunran.

Hakkaku may be goofy on the outside, but he bears a surprising amount of physical strength, given how he uses his bare hands to overpower his enemies. He respects Sesshoumaru because of his composure, cherishes Shuran and Inuyasha as his greatest friends, cares for Ginta as his younger brother, and has a lovely platonic companionship with both Ayame and Shunran.

Ginta is the kind-hearted, innocent, handsome face of the group, as he radiates with positivity, encouragement, and vivacity. His speed and endurance make him quite durable in battle and he never tires easily. He looks up to Sesshoumaru because of his courage, Shuran because of his strength, Inuyasha because of his determination, and Hakkaku for being the most fun brother ever. He also enjoys Ayame’s companionship. However, he is truly happy when his darling Shunran by his side and has a lovey-dovey vibe with her.

Ayame’s strength, speed, determination, resilience, and bravery make her one of the most formidable fighters the Northern Yoro tribe has ever seen. Enemies do not have a prayer when she is around to put her fists, feet, strength, and athleticism to phenomenal use. Moreover, she is akin to the only sane woman of the group, as she does ensure togetherness in numbers. She loves Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha with all of her heart, mind, and soul, given how fate has drawn these three together and ended up building a wonderful family together. She sees Shuran, Hakkaku, and Ginta as her best friends, considering how much she enjoys sparring with Shuran and having marathon races with Hakkaku and Ginta. Finally, she has a nurturing big sister relationship with Shunran, as they constantly confide in each other through the good times and the bad times.

Shunran is the mischievous, feisty, lovable firecracker of the group and is the youngest. She puts her speed, agility, and mirage-making to fantastic use, thus flustering her enemies and putting them in a huge tizzy. She is also the glue who keeps everyone together in such harmony and offers a whole lot of consolation when the group is down. Not only does she revel in the company of her favorite big brother Shuran, but she also deeply respects Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame as formidable fighters and the great siblings she longs to have in her life, enjoys having Hakkaku as her best friend, and loves Ginta body and soul.

Interspersed with this group dynamic would be Toran, Ayumi, and Karan to give them all the moral support they need. Toran would instill her big sister wisdom and bravery not only unto Shuran and Shunran, but also to Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Ayame, as well as be good comrades-in-arms with Sesshoumaru. Ayumi would find herself completely fascinated with how superbly the group dynamics between Sesshoumaru, Shuran, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran function and would use her people skills and knowledge to aid them in their missions. Karan would also find herself being very supportive of Shuran and Shunran’s endeavors to be part of Sesshoumaru’s, Inuyasha’s, Ayame’s, Hakkaku’s, and Ginta’s group to the point of being their closest ally.

Sesshoumaru, Shuran, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran started forming this group while they were still very young with Sesshoumaru being 6 years old, Shuran being 5 years old, Inuyasha and Hakkaku being 4 years old, Ginta being 3 years old, Ayame being 2 years old, and Shunran being a little baby. Three years later, their bond grew a lot tighter and proved themselves to be the greatest of friends. In their teens with Sesshoumaru at 19, Shuran at 18, Inuyasha and Hakkaku at 17, Ginta at 16, Ayame at 15, and Shunran at 13, they have become the Northern Yoro Tribe’s most powerful warriors and had established families of their own all while applying their collective power defeat Naraku and whole bunch of other terrible creatures. Fast-forward twenty years on with Sesshoumaru at age 39, Shuran approaching age 38 in a month’s time, Inuyasha at age 37, Hakkaku approaching age 37 in four months’ time, Ginta at age 36, Ayame at age 35, and Shunran at age 33, they have continued to maintain their formidable bond while being so proud of their children and grandchildren.

In terms of their respective family lives, Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame have built a very tight ship in terms of growing their family by adopting Dai, Roku, Kai, Rin, Shiori, Kanna, Shinta, and Souten as their own children and training them to be the best warriors they can be. Ginta and Shunran also created a loving family by adopting Sayo, Koume, Moegi, and Ai as their own children and training them to show compassion and kindness to those around them as well as outrun any opponent with Shuran and Hakkaku being appointed as their beloved godfathers, who in turn ended up being Sayo’s, Koume’s, Moegi’s, and Ai’s most favorite uncles of all time. Both Shuran and Hakkaku even ended up with their respective loved ones in the forms of Ayumi and Karan who also ended up having fine and lovely families of their own. This even got to the point where all of their children and grandchildren inherited Sesshoumaru’s, Shuran’s, Inuyasha’s, Hakkaku’s, Ginta’s, Ayame’s, and Shunran’s great sense of camaraderie, team spirit, and strength.

In conclusion, Sesshoumaru, Shuran, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran certainly make a fine team of fighters. With their collective strength and sheer willpower, they have proven themselves to be intrepid warriors who will never back down in the slightest iota.

I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you in the next submission. Take care and stay safe, everybody.

Sesshoumaru, Shuran, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran from Inuyasha belong to Rumiko Takahashi and Sunrise.
