For those of you who have followed me for quite some time, you will already know that I have seven of my most favorite main OTPs from the anime and manga Inuyasha. Those are Sesshoumaru x Kagura, Kouga x Sango, Shuran x Ayumi, Bankotsu x Kagome, Hakkaku x Karan, Inuyasha x Ayame, and Ginta x Shunran. It may be just me, but I just love, adore, and worship the ground these seven splendid, spectacular, and stunning couples walk on because of how exceptionally well their personalities can mesh.
This is also a nice way to kick off my Inuvember submissions, even though I could have submitted this two days ago, but I was rather busy with university and pretty knackered. Regardless, better late than never, as I have been wanting to partake in this Inuyasha-centered month for the longest. I figured that I would love to focus my energy for this month on my most favorite Inuyasha couples of all time and do a lot of creative activities with them from making memes to making screenshot collages to, of course, drawing fanart of them. As a reminder, from left to right, we have my seven of my most beloved Inuyasha OTPs in the forms of Sesshoumaru x Kagura, Kouga x Sango, Shuran x Ayumi, Bankotsu x Kagome, Hakkaku x Karan, Inuyasha x Ayame, and Ginta x Shunran.
My headcanon for all of these couples is that they all started as childhood sweethearts, married while they were still very young and had children, and continue to maintain the happy, healthy, long-lasting relationships while having a great number of grandchildren.
Sesshoumaru and Kagura: Noble Spiciness and Elegant Lethalness
Sesshoumaru and Kagura have quite the nobly spicy relationship with each other. Ever since she was a little girl, Kagura has always admired Sesshoumaru for his stately nature and how independent he was. To make things better, Kagura followed her heart to want Sesshoumaru as her husband, while Sesshoumaru had to ensure that he secured a wife to fulfill his father’s wishes of keeping the family bloodline strong and alive. Sure, Sesshoumaru did not always reciprocate Kagura’s affection, but there was something within them that would make them realize who their ideally intended soulmate was going to be. As they grew into adolescence, the feelings they have with each other grew more mutual than ever. Indubitably, Sesshoumaru wears the pants in this relationship and Kagura deeply respects him for that. Now with Sesshoumaru at age 38 and Kagura at age 36, they are the proud parents of 27-year-old Rin, 26-year-old Kanna, 23-year-old triplet sons Motoharu, Mitsuhide, and Matsuhige, 22-year-old twin sons Heishiro and Norihito, 21-year-old twin sons Seijiro and Yoshiro, 20-year-old triplet daughters Setsuko, Sachiko, and Ritsuko, and 19-year-old twin daughters Nobuko and Sayaka. All of their children have grown up to be noble, staunch warriors who have fulfilled Inu no Taisho’s promise of keeping the bloodline alive. Therefore, Rin has become a very formidable warrior who uses both a sword, her fists, and her endurance to get the job done, Kanna has become the healer of the family when her siblings are hurt, Motoharu, Mitsuhide, and Matsuhige have become amazing martial artists specializing in judo, karate, and Tae Kwon Do, Heishiro and Norihito have become masters in Pankration, Seijiro and Yoshiro have become experts in wind manipulation and kung fu, Setsuko, Sachiko, and Ritsuko became phenomenal swordswomen, and Nobuko and Sayaka not only became gorgeous dancers but also used the wind by courtesy of their fans. They also ended up happily married, with Rin and Kanna being the first to marry and have children with Kohaku and Souta at ages 14 and 13 respectively.
Kouga and Sango: Charmingly Belligerent Sexual Tension Incarnate
Kouga and Sango have grown from having a love-hate relationship as children to becoming very intimate with each other as adults. As a wolf youkai, Kouga was always reminded of the pride of his tribe and that wolves hunt and mate to survive. As for Sango and her duties as a demon slayer, was always told to be wary of strange activities and perfidious beings. One fateful day, when the young 8-year-old wolf youkai and the young 7-year-old demon slayer were in the forest, they were about to make the first strike to each other because they thought that there was something evil in the both of them. Sango then gave Kouga a good punch and a kick, which actually made Kouga oddly enamored. He then stated that Sango was going to be his woman because of just how strong and pretty she was. Sango first thought it was a joke, but she figured that Kouga was not half bad and was just rough around the edges. Come their years of adolescence, and their unconditional love for each other knew no bounds to the point where the sexual tension between Kouga and Sango was so thick, one would need a chainsaw. Nevertheless, they have found someone special in each other with Sango admiring Kouga for his charisma, roguishness, and charm and Kouga admiring Sango for her strength, beauty, and bravery. Now with Kouga at age 37 and Sango at age 36, they are the proud parents of 29-year-old Kai, 26-year-old Shinta, 23-year-old triplet sons Ryuya, Ryohei, and Jouji, 22-year-old twin sons Issei and Fumihiko, 21-year-old twin sons Jurota and Gojyo, 20-year-old triplet daughters Fujiko, Tomoko, and Takako, and 19-year-old twin daughters Ranko and Hanako. All of their children have grown up to be tough, independent warriors who protect their home from anything evil. Kai has grown up to be a strong, handsome warrior. Shinta has grown up to be just as strong and handsome as Kai. Ryuya, Ryohei, Jouji, Issei, Fumihiko, Jurota, and Gojyo have become just as tough, proud, and fierce as their father, and Fujiko, Tomoko, Takako, Ranko, and Hanako have become as independent and fiery as their mother. They also ended up happily married, with Kai and Shinta being the first to marry and have children with Mizuki and Shion at ages 16 and 13 respectively.
Shuran and Ayumi: The Brutish, Bulky, Brawny Beast Hooking Up with the Social Butterfly of a Beauty
Shuran and Ayumi always had something adorable and positive that they see from each other. Shuran may have always been known for being the big, strong, rough, tough brute and Ayumi may have always been known for being a social butterfly, a bit of a chatterbox, a fun-loving friend, and a supportive confidante but they have always surprised each other. Shuran has always been pleasantly surprised with Ayumi in terms of how independent, headstrong, courageous, and physically agile she is, especially when she shows no fear when she is around Shuran. Ayumi, on the other hand, always admired Shuran for his strength, toughness, endurance, power, and how much of a giant teddy bear he is towards her when he protects her from all harm. Ayumi has always been a brave soul, even when she was a 5-year-old little girl, which meant that 8-year-old Shuran never scared her, even though Yuka and Eri used to be kind of intimidated by him but over time, they warmed up to him. Both Shuran and Ayumi expressed a desire to marry each other when they came of age, knowing how happy they will be together until their old age. Their dreams came true when Shuran was about to turn 14 and Ayumi was 11 when they ended up tying the knot. Ergo, Ayumi was very happy to have her big, strong, friendly beast by her side and Shuran was very happy to have his spunky, sassy, encouraging beauty by his side. Now with Shuran at age 37 and Ayumi at age 34, they are the proud parents of 29-year-old Asagi, 27-year-old Satsuki, 23-year-old triplet sons Ryoga, Saiga, and Touya, 22-year-old twin sons Nobutoshi and Hikaru, 21-year-old twin sons Masaru and Kyouta, 20-year-old triplet daughters Yomiko, Tsukiko, and Akiko, and 19-year-old twin daughters Riko and Meiko. All of their children have grown up to be warlike, rough, formidable yet gentle warriors who exude loads of power in battle but show a lot of kindness to the people they care about. Asagi has grown up to be a determined warrior who uses her fists and feet with such finesse and ferocity. Satsuki has become a strong, young woman who defends her family with all of her heart. Ryoha, Saiga, Touya, Nobutoshi, Hikaru, Masaru, and Kyouta have become muscular, strong, formidable, and brutish fighters who can intimidate their enemies with their muscles, super strength, and lightning powers. Yomiko, Tsukiko, and Akiko have become formidable lightning users. Riko and Meiko have become the nurses of their family. They also ended up happily married, with Asagi and Satsuki being the first to marry and have children with Hitomi and Hakudoushi at ages 16 and 14 respectively.
Bankotsu and Kagome: Through Thick and Thin They will Tackle Foes and Thrive as Fighters
Bankotsu and Kagome have always helped each other to grow not only as fighters but also as people. Just because Bankotsu seems to always get his way and Kagome may have a short fuse, they always remind each other that they are always going to stay loyal to each other from the cradle to the grave. Bankotsu has always been different from the other boys and uses his strength and skill to show them that he is the boss. While Kagome has always been different from the other girls because of her curiosity and fascination with ancient Japanese history. One day, when some bullies were taking the Mickey out of 5-year-old Kagome by taunting her, her unusual tastes, and her crazy grandfather, 7-year-old Bankotsu came to the rescue by calling out her bullies for their crap, threatening to punch each and every one of their noses until they bled, and made them run like bats out of Hell. Initially, Kagome was rather terrified of Bankotsu, until he displayed his gentler side to her, which pleasantly surprised Kagome to the point where she eventually became inducted as an honorary member of Bankotsu’s Band of Seven. She was absolutely grateful for Bankotsu standing up for her and their admiration for each other bloomed. Come the birth of Kagome’s younger brother Souta, and Bankotsu proudly declared that he was going to be make a wonderful brother-in-law to their children, which made Mrs. Higurashi smile with glee and Grandpa Higurashi bellow with laughter for how charming Bankotsu’s remark was. Growing up together as fighters has proved to be a great advantage, since Kagome learned to be focused and precise with her aims at archery through Bankotsu’s support and encouragement plus becoming quite the formidable swordswoman, as she also wields the Tetsusaiga with ease, and Bankotsu learning the essence of control, patience, and clarity with or without his halberd through Kagome’s constant encouragement. Together, they have struck fear into the eyes of their enemies yet have a lot of genuinely intimate moments when the doors are closed. Now with Bankotsu at age 36 and Kagome at age 34, they are the proud parents of 28-year-old Hakudoushi, 26-year-old Shippou, 23-year-old triplet sons Daisuke, Daichi, and Jinpachi, 22-year-old twin sons Jotaro and Hideo, 21-year-old twin sons Arata and Hayato, 20-year-old triplet daughters Ginjiko, Haruko, and Hokuto, and 19-year-old twin daughters Hiroko and Asako. All of their children have grown up to be exceptionally strategic and formidable warriors with the eldest sons Hakudoushi and Shippou becoming the masterful swordsmen of their family who can also use their fists to take down their enemies, Daisuke, Daichi, and Jinpachi becoming incredibly formidable swordsmen, Jotaro, Hideo, Arata, and Hayato becoming strong fist fighters, and Ginjiko, Haruko, Hokuto, Hiroko, and Asako becoming precise archers. They also ended up happily married, with Hakudoushi and Shippou being the first to marry and have children with Satsuki and Souten at ages 15 and 13 respectively.
Hakkaku and Karan: Beautifully Healthy Synergy with the right amount of Savory and Spicy Flavors
Hakkaku and Karan always bore an interesting synergy towards each other, with Hakkaku’s brand of lovability, goofiness, and shrewdness meshing together with Karan’s fierceness, sharp attitude, and directness in the most delightful way. Ergo, they have always seen something fun, interesting, and intriguing with each other. As children, the whole prospect of marriage did not seem to interest them because they used to see each other as friends. However, that all changed on one fateful day, when 4-year-old Karan was about to be threatened by wolf bullies that 7-year-old Hakkaku came over to prove himself as the shrewd, strong fighter that he claimed himself to be, thus scaring the bullies off. One year later, when Hakkaku was about to be threatened by panther demon bullies, Karan threatened them with her pyrokinesis, thus scaring them and even returning the favor to Hakkaku. Therefore, Hakkaku has inspired Karan to show a little bit more compassion, kindness, and positive vibes and Karan has inspired Hakkaku to be a lot stronger as a fighter and as a person, thus being very strong and loyal for and to each other. By the time Hakkaku was 12 and Karan was 9, they no longer saw each other as friends, but they ended up having a firm relationship with each other. This got to the point where Toran gave her blessings to Karan and her new husband, thus making them absolutely blissful to be with each other in their lives. Now with Hakkaku at age 36 and Karan at age 33, they are the proud parents of 29-year-old Shion, 27-year-old Mizuki, 23-year-old triplet sons Tetsuya, Takuma, and Susuma, 22-year-old twin sons Nokoru and Yusuke, 21-year-old twin sons Kenichi and Ikimaru, 20-year-old triplet daughters Reiko, Ryoko, and Yukiko, and 19-year-old twin daughters Sayumi and Akane. All of their children have grown up to be feisty yet loving warriors who can intimidate their enemies with their presence and powers while being loving and warm to the people they care about. Shion has grown from being a sweet, shy boy into a focused, determined man who has the strength and agility to take down his enemies. Mizuki has grown from being a cute yet mouthy young girl to an agile fighter with great reflexes. Tetsuya, Takuma, Susuma, Nokoru, and Yusuke basically use their muscles to take any foe down with their wrestling and grappling skills. Kenichi and Ikimaru have become a formidable duo of martial artists, and Reiko, Ryoko, Yukiko, Sayumi, and Akane have become accurate users of pyrokinesis. They also ended up happily married, with Shion and Mizuki being the first to marry and have children with Shinta and Kai at ages 16 and 14 respectively.
Inuyasha and Ayame: Fabulously Fierce yet Adorably Appreciate and Gorgeously Genuine All the Way Through
Inuyasha and Ayame knew from the bottom of their hearts that they were destined to be together, and they have the healthy synergy, badass attitudes, formidable fierceness, and boundless intimacy to prove it in spades. Inuyasha has always admired Ayame because of her independence, resilience, relentlessness, and compassion while Ayame has always admired Inuyasha for his strength, determination, fierceness, and endurance. Everything came into full fruition when they were young children. 4-year-old Inuyasha did attend the birth of Ayame, and when she cooed at him, he gave an embarrassed blush. However, it all came to a head when Inuyasha was 7 and Ayame was 4 did they really start to be in love with each other. Being tired of being chased around by demons, Inuyasha knew he had to prove himself as a fighter by rescuing Ayame from the Birds of Paradise using his claws, fists, feet, and super strength to take them down. Ayame was indubitably grateful to Inuyasha for coming to her rescue, and he made it his vow to be strong for Ayame. This has even gotten to the point where Izayoi, Inuyasha’s mother, thought that Inuyasha was old enough to know what was best for him because of how much he cares for Ayame. Moreover, Inuyasha got inducted into the Northern Yoro tribe, as he learned how to hunt, roar, growl, and wrestle like a wolf as well as use his super strength and remarkable endurance to protect the tribe. On top of that, by the time 13-year-old Inuyasha and 10-year-old Ayame were married and were about to have children, 15-year-old Sesshoumaru expressed how proud he was of his little brother for wisely choosing Ayame to be his wife and Ayame was really happy to have Sesshoumaru as her strong, handsome big brother-in-law. Sesshoumaru even gave brotherly advice to Inuyasha saying that he should always protect Ayame with his heart, mind, and soul and gave big brother-in-law advice to Ayame saying that she should also stay strong for Inuyasha no matter what he goes through. Now with Inuyasha at age 36 and Ayame at age 33, they are the proud parents of 29-year-old eldest twin sons Dai and Roku, 23-year-old triplet sons Masataka, Masaya, and Motomu, 22-year-old twin sons Kenta and Keita, 21-year-old twin sons Kazuhiko and Kaito, 20-year-old triplet daughters Momoko, Makoto, and Mikoto, and 19-year-old twin daughters Maya and Minako. All of their children have grown up to be strong, formidable, powerful warriors with Dai and Roku being absolutely amazing fist fighters, Masataka, Masaya, Motomu, Kenta, and Keita having the muscles and the wrestling skills to intimidate their enemies, Kazuhiko and Kaito having the muscles, fists, and feet to defeat their foes, and Momoko, Makoto, Mikoto, Maya, and Minako having the claws, fangs, and agility to one-up their opponents. They also ended up happily married, with Dai and Roku being the first ones to marry and have children with Moegi and Ai when they were both 16 years old.
Ginta and Shunran: Splendidly Spectacular Star-Crossed Lovers and Unconditionally Loving Each Other So Much
Ginta and Shunran are the definition of star-crossed lovers, considering the lovey-dovey, sweet vibe they emit every time they are together. Ginta has always appreciated Shunran for her mischief, fun-loving attitude, and liveliness and Shunran has always admired Ginta for his handsome features accompanied by his signature dimples, his surprising amount of strength, and just how loving, hilarious, and supportive he really is. This all started when 3-year-old Ginta was even at Shunran’s christening, and she cooed at him with such joy and delight that Ginta even ended up blushing. When Ginta was between the ages of 4 and 9 and Shunran was between the ages of 1 and 6, they would always play with each other in the forest and pick up flowers. Aside from that, Hakkaku and Ginta would always have double playdates with Karan and Shunran, thus making their respective bonds stronger and display a lot stability. This even got to the point where both boys audaciously proposed to them for their hands in marriage that the girls chuckled at this and said that they would love to spend every waking day with their beloveds. Shunran also enjoys it when Ginta is in the river to catch some fish because she thought he looked absolutely wonderful when he swam and tackled that fish. Come the day of 12-year-old Ginta’s and 9-year-old Shunran’s marriage and their young lives were completely filled with boundless happiness and abundant blessings, by courtesy of Toran giving the lovely young couple their blessings. Now with Ginta at age 35 and Shunran at age 32, they are the proud parents of 27-year-old Moegi, 25-year-old Ai, 23-year-old triplet sons Tatsuo, Takeru, and Minoru, 22-year-old twin sons Junichiro and Joichiro, 21-year-old twin sons Manabu and Sentaro, 20-year-old triplet daughters Sakura, Sawako, and Sunako, and 19-year-old twin daughters Kokoro and Katsuho. All of their children have grown up to be charming, feisty yet surprisingly strong warriors who can use their skills to take down evil. Moegi and Ai have become the peacekeepers and healers of their family but are also willing to use their martial arts skills to take any invader down. Tatsuo, Takeru, Minoru, Junichiro, and Joichiro have grown up to be handsome, formidable, and charming warriors who have not only inherited Ginta’s handsome and cute dimples but also became the muscle warriors that they are. Manabu and Sentaro have grown up to be muscular and handsome martial artists who are just as strong as their older brothers. Finally, Sakura, Sawako, Sunako, Kokoro, and Katsuho have grown up to master their mother’s usage of mirages as well as become agile and graceful fighters. They also ended up happily married, with Moegi and Ai being the first to marry and have children with Dai and Roku when they were 14 and 12 respectively.
In conclusion, I am always going to treasure SessKagu, KouSan, ShuAyu, BanKag, HakKar, InuAya, and GinShun as my most beloved OTPs of all time, and the inspiration and fascination I have for these couples will never waver.
