Awareness Ribbons - Red

I take you all back 30 years ago before these seven warriors acquired huge acclaim for their impeccable teamwork and their peerless skills as fighters, battled various evil forces to protect Feudal Era Japan, and saw their progeny grow in strength, dignity, and honor. These young warriors were the greatest of friends, the most supportive of allies, and formed a bond that best friends and families alike would turn green with envy.

At the top row, we have 9-year-old Sesshoumaru, his 7-year-old younger brother Inuyasha, and 5-year-old Ayame.

At the bottom row, we have 8-year-old Shuran, 7-year-old friend Hakkaku, 6-year-old Ginta, and 3-year-old Shunran.

I came up with this scenario of envisioning what The Splendid Seven looked like when they were children and I credit the likes of Muppet Babies, The Jungle Cubs, and many other nostalgic cartoons where certain classic characters are given the spin-off babies treatment. Furthermore, I also kind of based the poses on what the main cast of the Our Gang or Little Rascals films looked like. So, this is something I am really sure will make a lot of you feel rather nostalgic.

In terms of what clothes I gave to Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, this is in accordance to my AU headcanon of having both brothers being present during Ayame’s christening when the Inu brothers were respectively 4 and 2. The Dog General and The Wolf Elder were so happy to see the young canine yokai playing with each other that they knew that there was a strong bond that will never be broken and they were destined to be guardians of both The Western Lands and The Northern Yoro Tribe. This even got to the point where Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha grew up with Ayame and were inducted into the tribe, thus learning how to hunt, wrestle, box, and use their impeccable combat prowess and strength to overcome their enemies. Ergo, Sesshoumaru’s and Inuyasha’s parents as well as Ayame’s grandfather were not the only ones who raised these three warriors, but also the Northern Yoro tribe elders plus the older warriors of that tribe.

For Shuran and Hakkaku, they always had that dynamic duo chemistry about them that not only made them really supportive best friends but also akin to brothers.

Ginta’s and Shunran’s case is them starting out as childhood sweethearts and eventually growing up to realize that there is something a whole lot deeper.

So, let us get to know these warrior kids of Feudal Era Japan.

9-year-old Sesshoumaru is a taciturn, determined, fierce, dedicated young lad who loves to train every day and would love to grow up to be a powerful warrior. He also enjoys a good meditation session to clear his mind from unnecessary clutter. Furthermore, he also serves as the aloof older brother of the group and not only towards Inuyasha. Aside from meditation, Sesshoumaru does train in various martial arts from judo to karate to Kung Fu to battoujutsu to jujitsu to Pankration to wrestling and usually with his favorite brother Inuyasha as his sparring partner. Even though he does spar with Shuran, Hakkaku, and Ginta, they do not even hold a candle compared to what Inuyasha can offer at least in Sesshoumaru’s point of view. He does have an enjoyable competitive relationship with Inuyasha, a genuinely loving bond with Ayame, a firm friendship with Shuran, an aloof friendship with both Hakkaku and Ginta, and a slightly protective big brother relationship with Shunran.

7-year-old Inuyasha is a courageous, hyperactive, independent, wild, rowdy, super strong young bruiser who enjoys using his fists, claws, and super strength to overcome all of his opponents, thus making him the muscle of the group. His strength and courage do make him the leader of the group with his older brother helping out as the co-leader. Speaking of Sesshoumaru, he enjoys sparring with him in a lot of physical activities such as boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, Pankration, judo, jujitsu, and plain old grappling. Sometimes Sesshoumaru would call out Inuyasha on his brutish techniques, but he does get the message and always reminds himself that he will be a lot stronger than before. Nevertheless, they have a begrudgingly loving fraternal bond in which they do respect each other and constantly address each other with fist-bumps, hand-clasps, punch-buggies, and hair-ruffles. Aside from Inuyasha’s über competitive bond with Sesshoumaru, he has a super loving bond with Ayame, a fun-loving friendship with both Shuran and Hakkaku, a lovingly fraternal relationship with Ginta to the point where he sees him as his little brother from another mother, and a supportive big brother friendship with Shunran.

5-year-old Ayame is an independent, brave, strong, dedicated, fiery young warrior lady who should never be underestimated with because her punches, kicks, and combat moves will end up leaving more than just a mere bruise on her enemies. She is also the bearer of a compassionate and understanding soul, thus making her the excitably cool big sis of the group, despite being younger than the likes of Shuran, Hakkaku, and Ginta. Ayame is never afraid to get her hands dirty and always enjoys physical training to hone her skills as a warrior, especially in boxing, kickboxing, wrestling, judo, and grappling. She also enjoys physical activities that make her agility levels go up such as marathon-running, swimming, and gymnastics, thus making her a one-girl fighting machine. Her relationship with both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha is extremely respectful, loving, genuine, and pure, given that she proudly states that she is their wife. Ever since both The Dog General and The Wolf Elder blessed the union of Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame as babies, they swore to stay faithful to each other until their dying day. Furthermore, she does a lot of good in Sesshoumaru’s and Inuyasha’s lives by not only supporting their courage and strength, but also helping them to understand that even though their differences are present, they are still brothers until the end. It is not just a loving and respectful relationship with both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha Ayame has, but also a loving friendship with Shuran, a fun-loving friendship with Hakkaku, an adoring friendship with Ginta, and a lovingly caring big sister relationship with Shunran.

8-year-old Shuran is a rambunctious, rowdy, tough, rough, imposing, super strong young tank of a boy who uses his brute strength and amazing lightning powers to incapacitate his enemies. Overlooking his brutish side, he is a major food lover who enjoys all types of food from meat such as turkey legs to vegetables such as leek to fruits such as berries. He also has a lovable gentle giant side towards his friends and he considers Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Hakkaku, Ginta, Ayame, and Shunran not only his best friends for life but also his siblings from other mothers, despite Shunran already being his biological younger sister. Given his size, Shuran enjoys sumo-wrestling and wrestling because of all the bear-hugs, back-breakers, and choke-holds he can muster. He has a supportive best friend relationship with Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, a loving big brother relationship with Ayame, a super tight and brotherly relationship with Hakkaku, a supportive big brother relationship with Ginta, and a super protective big brother relationship with Shunran.

7-year-old Hakkaku is a hyperactive, imaginative, high-strung, passionate, amiable, fun-loving youth who has the speed and agility of a gazelle as well as the surprising strength of an ox as well as being six months younger than Inuyasha. He is a young lad who enjoys life to the fullest and is quite communicative to all of his friends as well as sticking by their sides when the going gets really tough. He enjoys sprinting, long jump, circuit training, boxing, and kickboxing, thus making him quite the passionate athlete of the group. He does have a respectful friendship with both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, a super close friendship with Shuran, a lovingly fraternal bond with his younger brother by eight months Ginta, and a supportive big brother relationship with Shunran.

6-year-old Ginta is a kind-hearted, sympathetic, meek, loving, adorable young soul who does his best to keep the group together never apart. This makes him the heart and soul of the group because of how his positivity radiates like the brightest of diamonds an he cares about his friends and is very considerate of their needs and wants. Ginta enjoys running marathons, circuit training, swimming, and diving. He has a lovingly fraternal relationship with both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha because he looks up to them as his older brothers as well as respects them so much, a supportive friendship with Ayame, a fun-loving fraternal relationship with Shuran and Hakkaku, and a lovably sweet relationship with Shunran.

3-year-old Shunran is a rambunctious, feisty, fun-loving, adorable, cute, cheeky, cherubic little sweetie who has an air of optimism, unconditional love, and innocence that make her absolutely infectious as the youngest member of The Splendid Seven. She is a lover of nature and always loves to surround herself with flowers of all shapes, sizes, and fragrances. She loves to collect cherry blossoms, create mirages, entertain her friends and family, meditate, and run marathons. Shunran has a lovingly supportive relationship with Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, a close brotherly relationship with Shuran and Hakkaku, a mega close relationship with Ayame to the point where she looks up to her like her older sister and considers her to be her best friend for life, and a romantically loving relationship with Ginta.

All in all, The Splendid Seven consisting of Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Ayame, Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran have been maintaining such a close comradeship, fine friendship, and relationship that is highly familial for several years and looking back to the time when they were children kind of makes our main seven feel quite nostalgic on the inside.

I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you in the next Inuvember submission. Take care, stay safe, and have a blessed Thanksgiving month, everybody.

Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Ayame, Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran from Inuyasha belong to Rumiko Takahashi and Sunrise.
