The Strongest Throuple in the World

This screenshot motivational poster is highly and I mean highly Pro-Sesshoumaru, Pro-Inuyasha, Pro-Ayame, Pro-SessAya, Pro-InuAya, and Pro-SessAyaInu. Furthermore, this is my contribution to this year’s Red Ribbon Reviewers’ month. So, sit back, relax, and soak in the sheer beauty, majesty, power, and strength that is SessAyaInu’s three-way relationship.

I thought it would be nice to kick off this year’s Inuvember with a screenshot motivational poster starring my three most favorite characters in Inuyasha as well as my number one OT3 not only in this particular series but in anime in general. I am talking about Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame. I do not even know where to begin with all the praises I want to sing for this legendarily mighty trio because they have played a significant role in my time immersing myself into Inuyasha’s universe. Suffice it to say, it is their courage, determination, strength, impeccable combat prowess, and fierceness which have cemented them as the greatest characters I have ever rooted for.

Going into my experience as a SessAyaInu shipper, I have been pairing Inuyasha with Ayame for as long as I could remember, especially where my early teens were concerned, because of how their strength as combatants and as characters made each other click in the most phenomenal way. The concept of pairing Sesshoumaru with Ayame did not occur to me until I was in my mid- to late-teens because of how fresh, highly intriguing, and appealing it was. Having Ayame involved in a three-way relationship with my favorite dog yokai brothers initially made me feel reserved yet I was quite interested in that concept. Nowadays, as a man in my late-20s with a bit more of an expanded, tolerant, and open mindset, I can say with confidence that this three-way relationship is a formula for success in terms of their dynamics, their collective strength and combat prowess, and their undying persistence.

With that said, here are my seven reasons why I can see both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha be in a very fruitful relationship with Ayame, which neatly boils down to how much in common they actually have. Why did I choose seven? Because there are seven characters I care for so much in my Inuyasha AU headcanon and you all know who they are.

1. They have an undeniable sense of respect, honor, and duty to their father figures.
Where Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha have Toga the Dog General, Ayame has her grandfather, The Wolf Elder. Considering the pivotal role they have played in their progenies’ lives, it does say a lot when their strength, determination, and persistence shine ever so brightly and has rubbed off on them. Power aside, it seems like Toga’s and Choro’s sense of wisdom and compassion have also shaped Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame to be the capable fighters they really are, thus having their lives be defined and shaped by impeccable courage and a surprising amount of compassion, where the likes of Izayoi and Rin are concerned. Therefore, Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame do honor their father figures with their undying courage, which is the key attribute they have in common.

2. They are incredibly persistent and know how to work towards their goals.
This threesome would never bow down to any man and would apply their physical and psychological strength to their advantage in order to seize the day and everything else about it. For Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame, quitting is mainly for losers and cowards, and they trust themselves to not give up without a fight even if there are certain odds which will not be in their favor.

3. They can see through each others’ strengths, weaknesses, and ugly sides and truly respect and trust each other, thus helping each other become better people with the help of true, unconditional love.
Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha may have their moments of stubbornness, over-competitiveness, and boundless sibling rivalry and Ayame may have her impulsiveness, high-strung personality, and fiery temper, but these are what they think they are on the outside. What Ayame can really see in both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha is that they are both strong, capable, honorable, independent, chivalrous gentlemen who live up to their word in their own special ways and who will never give up when the going gets really tough thanks to Sesshoumaru’s lethal accuracy and focused stealth as well as Inuyasha’s animal fierceness and impeccable strength. While Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha treasure Ayame as a strong, independent woman who can think for herself, who can fight capably, and who does not need a knight in shining armor to save her all the time, thus making them see that Ayame is also someone with her own feelings, ambitions, goals, and dreams and not just another prize to be won nor just someone who ended up being a candidate of an arranged marriage. This leads them to understanding each other in a profound way in terms of additionally recognizing what uglier sides they have and making each other realize that they are never alone. Therefore, Ayame can help Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha iron out their differences and make them see that, though the older brother is a Daiyokai and the younger brother is a powerful Hanyou, they are still brothers in spite and even because of their differences. Furthermore, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha would also encourage Ayame in a very positive way to keep on pushing through and will always root for her when times get rough.

4. Aside from Dai, Roku, Kai, Shiori, and Shinta being Sesshoumaru’s, Inuyasha’s, and Ayame’s most beloved children, Rin would be the cement who will hold the family together.
There is no shadow of a doubt that Rin shall play a hugely integral and imperative role in Sesshoumaru’s, Inuyasha’s, and Ayame’s lives not only as her yokai guardians but also as her parents who will ensure that they give her a great home where she can train to become stronger and in turn show them what compassion looks and feels like, especially where her siblings originally came from. We all know that Rin has lost her biological parents and her biological older brother to bandits, which ties in well with the loss of Dai’s, Roku’s, Kai’s, and Shinta’s parents as well as Shiori, though originally still having a mother, no longer having a father and being with a grandfather who was psychologically abusive to her. Ergo, Dai, Roku, Kai, Shinta, Shiori, and especially Rin deserve to have a greater home and a truly loving family life, with Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame providing that and more in spades. What makes Rin’s role as Sesshoumaru’s, Inuyasha’s, and Ayame’s daughter integral is what these three would do in order to not only protect their most beloved daughter but also make sure that she defends herself. All of this comes into play when Kouga and his rogue wolves dared to mutilate Rin as much as they mutilated the villagers, with Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame coming to her aid and beating the tar out of Kouga and his followers. It is from their that Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame make it their duty to ensure that Rin’s life with them is as exciting and promising as possible.

5. They look absolutely attractive together.
Yes, yes, my dear readers, this is the obligatory aesthetic argument. However, this next argument works extremely well in their favor. When you see what color they have on their clothes, you will automatically recognize that they all have red in various shades, with Sesshoumaru’s vermillion in his emblem at the upper part of his garments, Inuyasha’s crimson in his robe of the Fire Rat, and Ayame’s coral in the upper part of her breastplate. I make a huge deal about these shades of red because it is not only my most favorite color in the whole world and I love every shade of it, but red represents valor, strength, fierceness, burning ambition, power, and determination, considering how strikingly accurate these attributes define Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame. The different shades of red aside, it is also how two silver-haired cavaliers like Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha pair up so perfectly with a red-headed warrior woman like Ayame, as both have their own brand of attractiveness. Sesshoumaru paired up with Ayame spells sexiness in an intimate manner, gorgeousness, and a refined nobility that is present in their relationship. Inuyasha paired up with Ayame spells sexiness in a relentlessly raw manner, power, spice, and bold flavors bursting in one’s palate. Any way you slice it, Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame coming together as a threesome makes for a lot of deep intimacy, spicy sexiness, and surprisingly glamorous elegance, especially where their athletic, imposing, and magnificent figures come into play, with Sesshoumaru being athletic, lean yet muscular in the right places, Inuyasha being athletic and bearing a fair amount of muscle, and Ayame being very athletic, agile, and physically powerful. One cannot even deny the amount of kisses and hugs Ayame would gladly give to both Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha, Sesshoumaru’s alluring charm towards Ayame, Inuyasha’s roguishly sexy charm towards Ayame, and the mere fact that Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha can keep Ayame warm throughout the night with their well-defined, well-toned, handsome bodies.

6. They have neither the place nor the occasion for ulterior motives let alone for abusive patterns.
Ayame is never going to manipulate Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha for her own gains nor will she relegate herself to being nothing more than a damsel in distress just for them to save her. In turn, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha would not dare use Ayame just to make themselves more powerful in any shape or form. It is simply not within their character to manipulate others for their own gain and have the strength of character to prove that. They will not even be completely controlling towards each other because of the huge amount of trust to be found within this triad.

7. They are the ultimate power throuple!
My dear readers, this is the deal-sealer for why I love SessAyaInu so much and why I ship them so hard as my OT3 for life. Everything that I have stated thus far is encapsulated in my final argument. I say that Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame are the ultimate power throuple because of how physically, mentally, and emotionally strong they truly are on and off the battlefield. Enemies better beware of how formidable this threesome is if they want to not end up in their bad side. The consequence for their enemies would come in a brutal beating through their claws, fangs, fists, and brawn. When these three canine yokai warriors join forces, they become a unit akin to witnessing a huge, well-built, well-fashioned tank blowing up the enemies’ fortress with everything they have! Sesshoumaru has the impeccable combat prowess, Inuyasha has the magnificent muscles, Ayame has the flexible agility, and they all have the strength of ten-thousand men, thirty lions, thirty tigers, twelve elephants, and fourteen gorillas. That, my friends, is what you call a power throuple in the flesh.

So, there you have it. SessAyaInu has proven itself to be my definition of the ultimate power throuple not only in Feudal Era Japan but also in the world! For that, I will forever uphold their good names with relish, respect, honor, and abundant blessings.

I hope you all enjoyed this and I would like to hear from you as well. Do you find the idea of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha being in a three-way relationship with Ayame fascinating? If so, please let me know in the comments below.

Until then, I will see you all in the next submission. Take care, stay safe, and have a nice November despite this ongoing pandemic.

Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, and Ayame from Inuyasha belong to Rumiko Takahashi and Sunrise.
