Sesshoumaru and Ayame: My OTP in Another Lifetime

This motivational poster is dedicated to all of my SessAya-shipping friends, fellow artists, fans, and brethren. So, sit back, relax, and soak in that SessAya goodness.

If Sesshoumaru x Kagura and Inuyasha x Ayame were not my be all and end all OTPs for the Inu brothers, I would have gladly shipped Sesshoumaru with Ayame in a heartbeat because of how absolutely underrated this couple really is. Sure, SessAya actually takes the silver medal of my most favorite pairing with Ayame, as it is a pairing I really love, but it is not on the level of being an OTP.

My reasoning for loving SessAya as my alternative OTP is attributed to a steady amount of the fanfics I have read centering The Lord of the West and The Wolf Warrior Princess of the North on FanFiction.net, as I was suckered in to those stories of how they were portrayed in a relationship, so long as I was choosy of which ones were well-written in terms of grammatical and story structure. Moreover, it was mainly because of the appeal these two bear in terms of their opposite personalities, as Sesshoumaru’s icy yet noble nature can compliment Ayame’s fierce determination.

There is no shadow of a doubt that Sesshoumaru will wear the pants in this relationship, help Ayame to get over her emotions, and make her channel all of her boundless energy mainly for self-defense and not for selfish, petty needs. He can even surprise her by being an extremely chivalrous gentleman who knows what is truly best for her and always has her best interest at heart.

Ayame would melt the ice that girdles Sesshoumaru by displaying kindness, affection, understanding, and the importance of loosening up and having fun every once in a while. She would even feel genuinely grateful and appreciative whenever Sesshoumaru protects, defends, and shields her from anything or anyone pernicious. To top it all off, Ayame could be more than capable of showing compassion towards Sesshoumaru when he least expects it.

As a matter of fact, Sesshoumaru and Ayame would build their relationship on compassion, strength, and respect. Compassion because they can understand each other in a way that is very genuine and true. Strength because they are not just strong as fighters but also as individuals given how much determination, grit, and willfulness they have in their personalities. Finally, the icing on top of this amazingly baked cake is respect because of how Ayame can display her reverence to Sesshoumaru and Sesshoumaru can acknowledge Ayame’s skills as a combatant and see her as not just another pretty face.

Where Rin fits in this relationship would be fulfilling her duties as a daughter to Sesshoumaru and Ayame. Joining in their family would be Kai and Shinta as her brothers, thus completing the family picture. Sesshoumaru indubitably displays his skills in ensuring his daughter’s safety and well-being, but Ayame would figuratively be a mother hen to Rin and ensure that she fends for herself well. Moreover, given Rin’s traumatic experience with Kouga’s wolves, Ayame would make Rin see that not all wolves are bad and would make sure that she will love and protect her with all of her being, especially against Kouga.

Speaking of Kouga, Sesshoumaru would surpass him in the most phenomenal way because he does not run away from battle nor use big talk to bring a sense of self-importance. He keeps his words and uses stealth to get the job done. This would also mean that Sesshoumaru would join forces with Ayame to ensure that Kouga does not encroach their happy family.

In conclusion, I am so happy to keep SessAya as a loved pairing because of how they can display a surprising amount of synergy. I say it is high time SessAya gets a whole lot more love and appreciation through fan-related works.

I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you in the next submission. Take care and stay safe, everybody.

Sesshoumaru and Ayame from Inuyasha belong to Rumiko Takahashi and Sunrise.
