Best Bros in Need of Better Role Models

This motivational poster is dedicated to all of my friends, fellow artists, fans, and brethren who enjoy pairing Kohaku and Souta as best friends, brothers, and who mainly prefer them as characters as opposed to their older sisters Sango and Kagome. So, sit back, relax, sit in for a spell for an AU idea I have with these two, which I mentioned in a previous submission, and how I see their fraternal friendship.

Ever since I was in early teens, I found myself rooting a lot more for Kohaku and Souta rather than their sisters Sango and Kagome mostly because there was something brilliant and cool about them. Kohaku, though he has done questionable deeds throughout the show, is still a capable, strong, and agile fighter. Souta is surprisingly perceptive, intuitive, and really down-to-earth. This has also gotten to the point where I enjoyed having these two together as genuinely great friends.

I made it really clear in my Xena about to kill meme that I do not care for either Sango or Kagome, especially the latter.

Sango may be strong, capable, and formidable as a combatant, but she is easily manipulated, cannot always tell what is reality and what is a lie, was almost about to kill Rin in “Inuyasha: The Final Act”, and ended up being nothing more than Miroku’s breeding mare after the many, many times he groped her. She even ended up as nothing more than part of Kagome’s posse in the whole “Inuyasha is cheating on Kagome for Kikyou” bandwagon, though she said that she wanted to stay by Inuyasha’s side after his full yokai transformation.

Speaking of Kagome, she has potential to become a heroine if it were not for the several times she ended up being a damsel in distress. The mere fact that she had control over Inuyasha with the Beads of Subjugation even after “Inuyasha: The Final Act” ended made me realize just how abusive Kagome was over him. She was not only abusive, but also manipulative, whiny, and an absolute brat who could not fend for herself, and her most infamous moment was in the 109th episode where she “sat” Inuyasha twenty plus times and Miroku, Sango, and Shippou did not even bother to stop her. To this day, this moment has made me loathe Kagome and her deeds towards Inuyasha.

Going back to Kohaku and Souta, clearly these young men deserve better people to look up to rather than their own pathetic excuses of older sisters. In fact, they need role models they could look up to and who could shape them to become better people let alone fighters.

One option would be the Inu brothers, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha. These gentlemen can be able to whip these lads into shape by turning them into super strong, super tough, amazing fighting machines.

Sesshoumaru would teach Kohaku and Souta various martial arts ranging from kung fu to wushu to karate to judo to Pankration. He would easily instill discipline, stealth, and the importance of self-defense to them.

Inuyasha would teach Kohaku and Souta boxing, wrestling, weightlifting, Pankration, and circuit training. Given Inuyasha’s super strength, Kohaku and Souta would be inspired to become as strong as him.

The other option would be Shuran, Hakkaku, and Ginta, as Shuran would perpetuate the importance of strength in combat with the usage of sumo wrestling, while Hakkaku and Ginta would be able to have a lot of fun with Kohaku and Souta in marathon running and a few sparring matches.

However, these two will not compare to what I have in store for Kohaku and Souta not only as best friends but also as brothers. I am certainly going there when I say that I made them the sons of Kuranosuke Takeda and his wife Toran.

In a previous submission, I mentioned that in my AU, Kohaku and Souta ended up being the sons of Lord Kuranosuke Takeda and Toran the panther deva of ice. What this couple can do to Kohaku and Souta is raise them to be the best version of themselves and teach them valuable lessons they will never, ever forget such as taking responsibility, defending themselves from all evil, and keeping themselves prepared for all forms of battle.

In this family dynamic, Kuranosuke would be the stern yet charismatically caring father, Toran would be the strict, strong, no-nonsense mother, Kohaku would be the responsible, taciturn yet sympathetic older brother, and Souta would be the kind-hearted, steadfast, and loyal younger brother. Combined with Kuranosuke’s and Toran’s twelve other children, they would make for a wonderfully formidable family.

When they come of age, Kohaku and Souta would find themselves falling for Rin and Kanna, who are Sesshoumaru’s and Kagura’s daughters in my AU headcanon, and marry them, thus swearing to them that they will protect them from all harm and keep their family home stable. This would be something Sesshoumaru and Kagura would easily accept given how they have seen how strong Kohaku and Souta have become throughout the years.

In conclusion, Kohaku and Souta would surely fare a lot better than having their “older sisters” be role models to them. Hakkaku and Ginta can instill fun, enjoyment, and joy into their lives. Shuran can instill a lot of competitiveness into their spirits. Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha can easily qualify as their most favorite uncles thanks to how strong, formidable, and determined they are in the eyes of Kohaku and Souta. However, when it comes to a stable family life, Kuranosuke Takeda and Toran can easily make wonderful parents and raise Kohaku and Souta to become courageous, determined, and powerful warriors.

I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you in the next submission. Take care, everybody.

Kohaku and Souta from Inuyasha belong to Rumiko Takahashi and Sunrise.
