All right. Let me make one thing clear. I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with Sango. I really enjoy her skills as a formidable, determined, and gutsy fighter because she really does scream heroine material far more than Kagome ever could. This even gets to the point where she even looks more like Kikyou than Kagome because both of they are strong fighters, quite mature, and have a sense of empathy. I even empathize with her when she lost her family during the time Naraku manipulated her little brother Kohaku into killing their clansmen. Finally, I just love her overall strong spirit and prowess on and off the battlefield, thus making her far more than just a pretty face. On top of that, her sisterly devotion to Kohaku is something that tends to touch me yet put me at gunpoint to make me comprehend the pain and the loss she had to go through.
So, why on Earth would she be on Xena’s body count list as well as a character I have polarizing feelings for, even though my previous statements were positive? A couple of reasons. Firstly, there is her inability to stop Kagome from abusing the Beads of Subjugation on Inuyasha, thus staying in the sidelines and not proving herself to be a true friend to Inuyasha. So much for her stating that in the 52nd episode she wanted to be with Inuyasha and show more compassion to him. Secondly, there is the mere fact that she ended up as nothing more than Miroku’s breeding mare at the end of Inuyasha: The Final Act. Seriously, after all of the times Miroku was groping her, thus paying him back with slaps and knockouts, and asking many other women if he could impregnate them, he had the balls to ask her for his hand in marriage? That to me is quite the farce. Something tells me that her “marriage” with Miroku would be very short-lived and he would just not fully change his ways. She could have known better than to just let this dick of a monk into her life and she could do a lot better than him. Finally, this last reason also goes back to her relationship with Inuyasha and how she could have stopped Kagome from her constant abuse on him. For someone who is supposed to know a whole great deal about yokai and many other demons, I am just surprised to know how Sango does not really understand the pain, guilt, and loss Inuyasha had to deal with in terms of Kikyou. Instead, she ends up jumping on the “Inuyasha has been unfaithful to Kagome with Kikyou” bandwagon without fully comprehending how much Kikyou meant to him in terms of his duties as her original protector and the very first person he developed genuine feelings for, even though to Inuyasha fifty years all still felt like only yesterday.
Sango is definitely going to be Xena’s most challenging target yet because they are equals in terms of strength, stamina, skill, and steeliness and neither of them will back down. As I stated before, Sango is more of a heroine and fighter than Kagome will ever be and it will be tough for Xena to subdue her into submission. What could come out from this is a balls to the wall battle occurring between the warrior princess of Amphipolis and the demon slayer of Feudal Era Japan. Just as Xena is about to push forward with the kill, she would hold her sword near her neck and leave her with an ultimatum. Should Sango choose to end up with Miroku and continue to be one of Kagome’s followers, she will have her head chopped off. Should Sango decide to dump Miroku once and for all and go be with a man who truly cares for her and treats her like a queen like Kouga, Xena will let her go in peace. Sango, quick on her head and feet, decides for the latter but ends up getting a gut punch from Xena for being an idiot in terms of being one of Kagome’s followers instead of having the gall to speak her mind.
For those of you who were expecting an Anti-Sango meme, I am sorry to disappoint you but there were some traits about Sango I still like. However, the negative aspects of her cannot be overlooked. So, my feelings for her end up being on the indifferent side because she still has her moments unlike a certain dumbass in distress constantly donning a green-colored school uniform.
I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you in the next submission. Take care and stay safe, everybody.
