This screenshot motivational poster is totally, highly, utterly, and completely Pro-RobRae, Pro-Zutara, Pro-NigelAbby, and Pro-Blossoomer. Sit back, relax, and revel in how much I hold my four most beloved OTPs of western animated television with such high regard.
Before I get started on what RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby or 15, and Blossoomer signify to me, I would like to begin with two versions of a parody from the “One of these Things” prose originally from Sesame Street but was also hilariously parodied in the Robot Chicken short Big Bird Blu. You can even imagine Robin, Raven, Zuko, Katara, Nigel aka Numbuh 1, Abby aka Numbuh 5, Boomer, and Blossom voiced respectively by Scott Menville, Tara Strong, Dante Basco, Mae Whitman, Ben Diskin, Cree Summer, Rob Paulsen, and Catherine Cavadini, saying this little ditty all while each animated couple is dancing in their own little square. Say it with us now, ladies and gentlemen!

Now that I have gotten you in a great mood, I decree that I have been a huge shipper of RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby aka 15, and Blossoomer ever since I was in my pre-teen years. I may have loved one or two or three of my most beloved cartoon couples a lot more than the others and I might have started shipping Blossoomer a little bit later in my life, as I was more of a constant ProfKeane shipper in my early youth, but the sentiment remains that there are so many great attributes to be found in each of my OTPs.
From RobRae’s cultured classiness to Zutara’s fiery passion to 15’s cool intellect to Blossoomer’s genuine warmth, these four were what I can confidently decree as the couples I have always championed even to this very day. Even in their respective series compared to the other OTPs I have kept close to my heart, I can still say that RobRae triumphs over CySara, AquaBee, SpeedStar, Kid Flinx, and BBTerra in terms of both quality and quantity, Zutara is capable of standing tall and proud over Sukka and Taang, NigelAbby or 15 wins over 34 aka WallyKuki and 26 aka HoagieKatie, and Blossoomer obtains the gold medal for not only my most favorite RuffPuff couple ever, with Brickercup and Butchubbles respectively trailing behind with silver medal and with the bronze medal, but also my most favorite couple in all of Townsville even beating out ProfKeane in the process. Ergo, these four magnificent cartoon couples of mine can never be beaten.
I am also certain some of you are asking me, why did I place RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer in the same category as my most beloved cartoon OTPs of all time? It is really simple. Though these cartoon couples are worlds apart, RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer do have some attributes in common. Those can be found in their color schemes with Blossoomer being a slight deviation from said color scheme, their strong character traits, their healthy couple dynamics, and what families they could end up having, especially in the long term. Furthermore, these couples are the core members of my most favorite teams of six, with Robin and Raven in Teen Titans including Terra, Zuko and Katara in Team Avatar, Nigel and Abby in Sector V including Katie aka Numbuh 6, and Boomer and Blossom in Team Xtreme, which is the team up I came up with for the Rowdyruff Boys and the Powerpuff Girls.
With that said, let the discussion roll.
Color Me Red and Blue
Let us observe these couples in terms of their color codes. You will realize that Robin, Zuko, and Nigel aka Numbuh 1 are donned in red, while Raven, Katara, and Abby aka Numbuh 5 are donned in blue, thus designating the boys in bold colors of red and the girls in calming colors of blue. The only couple to deviate from this red boy and blue girl dynamic is Blossoomer, with Boomer as the blue boy to Blossom’s pink girl adorning her red bow.
While these colors are arbitrary on the surface, they actually bear significance when observing what they mean to each of these couples, especially when they are mixed together.
As reds, Robin, Zuko, Nigel, and Blossom are choleric, passionate, naturally born leaders, staunchly fierce and headstrong in their beliefs with such fervency and urgency, but also impulsive, aggressive, reactive, and get easily frustrated over the smallest of details.
As blues, Raven, Katara, Abby, and Boomer are calm, compassionate, loyal, levelheadedly wise, but are also moody, tend to be withdrawn, melancholy, and tend to be lonely despite not wanting to show it all the time.
Yes, Boomer is also quite energetic, sweetly naive, and a lovable dreamer and Blossom is also intelligent, articulate, and fashionable, but their main color codes are their respective core definitions, with Boomer being the loyal youngest brother of Brick and Butch and Blossom being the choleric eldest sister of Buttercup and Bubbles.
Furthermore, while Robin also has green on him, Raven also has a black top and is designated with a deep violet when it comes to the main Teen Titans, Zuko dons crimson, Katara dons sky blue, Nigel and Abby are straight up dressed in red and blue, Boomer dons cobalt blue, and Blossom dons pink with the only piece of red paraphernalia being her bow, they are all appropriated into their respective colors of red and blue.
Color also plays a huge role in their chosen elements, with Robin, Zuko, and Nigel representing the fierce fire and Raven, Katara, and Abby representing the clear water. It is true that Boomer has cobalt blue lightning and Blossom has pink ice, but their elements are just as formidable and as dynamic. When mixing fire with water, it creates steam. When mixing lightning with ice, it creates a snowstorm with thunder and lightning. Therefore, their elements can create balance when implemented in the right way and not abused in the slightest.
When putting red and blue together, they create the color purple or violet. Combining red’s strength, vitality, and passion with blue’s compassion, selflessness, and calmness creates purple in its noble, creative, and serene hues. It is true that red’s anger and frustration also mixes with blue’s melancholy and loneliness, thus creating purple in its tired, gloomy, sad hue. However, despite the doom and gloom, the color purple would rise above their trials in style, nobility, and a clear mind. Therefore, these couples can make proactive changes for the better and overcome their trials with strength, encouragement, hope, and a brave face.
Nothing’s Gonna Stop These Couples
One major attribute which makes me appreciate RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer to such a high level is the great amount of perseverance, strength, and sturdiness these couples have. Even when the chips are down, even when the world seems to be against them, even when society attempts to pigeonhole them, these four couples would have the courage and endurance to prove them wrong.
RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer are not easily defined by their muscular strength when it comes to doing battle against their enemies, but their sheer willpower, determination, clear focus, conscientiousness, and accuracy. Robin, Zuko, Nigel, and Blossom have the tactics, command, and fierceness in their attacks as the reds, while Raven, Katara, Abby, and surprisingly Boomer have the focus, clarity, and consistency in their attacks as the blues. Boomer also has super strength and super speed and Blossom is also just as strong and fierce, thus making them gain a physical edge over RobRae, Zutara, and NigelAbby.
Focusing on Blossoomer, yes they are just as formidable and as powerful as RobRae, Zutara, and NigelAbby, but there is the argument that Brickercup does deserve to bear the title of the toughest couple, what makes Blossoomer more physically durable than Brickercup and even Butchubbles combined? Brickercup’s fierceness is utterly loud and proud, as Brick and Buttercup would never hesitate to beat up enemies with everything they have without respite. Meanwhile, Butchubbles’ brand of formidability comes from a moment where they would get easily provoked, with Butch being far more upfront with how easily provoked he gets and Bubbles letting that hardcore side of her build up when triggered. Blossoomer’s brand of formidability is far more subtle and more inwardly lethal, if not more lethal than Brickercup’s grand bravado and Butchubbles’ launched impulse.
In fact, this subtle lethalness is what defines RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer. Just one false move and you could face these following consequences from either of these four power couples: Robin’s mighty blows and Raven’s terrifying black magic, Zuko’s fierce firebending and Katara’s overpowering waterbending, Nigel’s and Abby’s impeccable martial arts skills, and/or Boomer’s lightning bolts and Blossom’s ice powers. Either way, if you dare commit any wrongdoing to them, cross on the wrong side of their paths, endanger the lives of their families and friends, and are not nice to them, by all means, be prepared for a world of physical, psychological, and mental scarring and a whole lot of pain and punishment that these four are more than willing to dish out. That is just how scary RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer can be should you dare challenge them let alone push their buttons.
Overlooking that frightening aspect, which is born out of self-defense, they would also implement their courage, strength, and fierceness to keep their families and friends safe and give each other reassurance that no harm will ever come their way. Therefore, these four couples would protect each other in their own special ways and would die for each other.
Unconditional Love and Genuine Understanding Incarnate
Perhaps the attributes I have always cherished about RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer are their sense of unconditional love, their impeccable capability of understanding each other inside and outside, expanding their perspectives of the world around them and of each other, and never being afraid of being themselves around each other, warts and all. Thematically speaking, there is so much appreciative synergy occurring between these four couples that they can shine like the brightest of diamonds. Furthermore, they balance each other out in such a phenomenal way, for better or for worse, and are the definitions of how yin and yang can exist in well-balanced harmony. In terms of introspection and maturity, RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer are the most mature, most clever, and most introspective couples in their respective groups, thus also being the glue that binds everybody together. Without Robin’s leadership, Raven’s intellect, Zuko’s determination, Katara’s compassion, Nigel’s confidence, Abby’s coolness, Boomer’s gregariousness, and Blossom’s poise, their respective groups would fall apart to oblivion.
Suffering plays a huge part in these couples’ lives in various ways and have shaped them to be the people they are today.
Robin constantly has to sacrifice his life for his friends, who are in turn his family, in order to protect them from danger as the leader of the Teen Titans. Sometimes his anxieties and traumas would consume him in ways one could never imagine, especially when Slade dares to torture his mind. Raven had this cursed gift implanted by her demon father, Trigon, that she will end the world until she found the power to defy her destiny by defeating him. Despite Raven seeming like she is cold and emotionless, her levelheadedness and her sense of understanding does show that she can be capable of opening her doors when necessary, thus tending to wear her emotionless side like a mask which hides the pain she would endure to those who do not comprehend her. At the end of the day, Robin and Raven would find the courage within themselves to truly appreciate each other and realize that solidarity is possible and that they are never alone.
Zuko endured abuse from his father, Ozai, and his younger sister, Azula, and the departure of his mother who truly loved him and helped him to grow in good character, thus unfortunately culminating in his own father burning half of his face when he did not want to do an Agni Kai with him. This caused him to grow up into an angry, frustrated, and anguished young man with a huge chip on his shoulder until he realized that the honor he sought meant nothing to him and has found peace within himself through Iroh’s encouragement and finding true friends, who have also become his true family. Though Katara carries a kind, compassionate, and motherly front, she also had to endure the loss of her mother, as she was killed by one of the Fire Nation assassins, and harbored a lot of trauma, pain, and vengeance. Her passion for growing as a waterbender was what kept Katara alive, while doing everything she can to never let her dark side consume her. In spite of the rockiness Zuko and Katara endured, they have common ground, they have seen the best and the worst sides of each other and never flinched, and they have no illusions of what challenges they are going to face ruling side by side as Fire Lord and Fire Lady.
Nigel may have confidence, bravado, class, and intellect, but he has to constantly strive and struggle to reach those high standards in technology and his role as leader of Sector V. There are many occasions where he does get consumed by his own towering ambition, which is overwhelming and a real ordeal to deal with, but he knows he has to do his duty for the good of his teammates, even with the frustrating cracks he has inside. Abby may be cool and collected, but even she has to endure the oppression of her older sister, Cree, who constantly bullies her and belittles her at every given occasion. If that is not bad enough, one can interpret that Abby’s strong, silent, tough front is a cover-up for all the torments she had to endure from Cree and she wears it like a sturdy suit of armor. Nigel’s and Abby’s cool sense of intellect may make them click, thus understanding each other, but it is what they can do to help each other and empower each other to never give up. Additionally, the steadfastness they have for each other is enough to strengthen each other and their respective endeavors.
Boomer is the hilarious, lovable, charming dumb muscle, thus serving as the comic relief for Team Xtreme, with Brick as the leader, Butch as the muscle, Buttercup as the brawler, and Bubbles as the pacifist. However, behind the laughter, there are a lot of occasions where Brick and Butch do pick on him just because they are a few minutes older than him, Brick is far more popular than Boomer, and Butch is a lot stronger than Boomer. Sure, Boomer is just as strong as Butch and as well-loved, if not far more well-loved, than Brick, but he feels like he is no match for Brick’s roguish charm with the ladies and Butch’s brute strength in the amount of monsters he can beat up and huge weights he can lift. Therefore, despite Brick, Butch, and Boomer being triplets, there have been several occasions where he is constantly being treated like a baby to them at best and is the occasional target of their jealousy at worst. Meanwhile, Blossom is the brains and beauty of Team Xtreme, who is well-loved for her poise, elegance, diplomacy, courage, and intellect. Nevertheless, she has to wrestle with the fact that she constantly has to put on a perfect veneer as the “eldest” sister, a model student, and a girl who seems indestructible. Underneath that perfect veneer is a lot of doubt, insecurity, anxiety, and worry if things are going to be perfect in her life, as one small mistake could mean the end of the world. There are occasions where her own sisters, Buttercup and Bubbles, believe that Blossom is just exaggerating, but not even their reassurances are enough to assuage her anxieties. What would spring forth from Boomer and Blossom is the compassion they have for each other. Boomer understands what it is like to be burdened with expectations, worries, and anxieties and live Blossom’s life with her breath held tightly. Blossom understands the pain Boomer had to endure just because Brick and Butch are jealous of him being more well-loved, teased just for being different, and not have the confidence to stand up for himself. Together, Boomer and Blossom would be strong for each other and would build each others’ confidence to face a brand new day.
The unconditional love, synergy, and harmony RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer have is not only evident in their sorrows and triumphs, but also their hobbies.
Robin and Raven are the intellectual couple who have a knack for gothic literature, mystery novels, gothic poetry, and ancient history. Their most favorite authors are Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Allan Poe, and they also make it their endeavor to catch up on Foucault, Keats, Milton, and Bentham. Furthermore, they are totally into Jacobean revenge tragedies, with their favorite film being The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover.
Zuko and Katara are the peaceful warrior couple who would make it their daily habit to partake in yoga, meditation, and do chanting to greet the day and before they go to sleep. They would ensure that no animosity occurs within their family and the world. Moreover, they are the Team Dad and the Team Mom of their group, thus making them passionate of implementing the importance of meditation and balance in this family.
Nigel and Abby are tech-savvy tactician couple who just love to repair, refurbish, and fix up anything that is either damaged or a new idea that needs to come to full fruition. Every idea that pops up in their brains would motivate both Nigel and Abby to create something from out of their wildest dreams. The paraphernalia they would create is not done out of fun, but out of practicality and protection with everything they have. Furthermore, Nigel and Abby are also fans of hip-hop, rap, and rhythm and blues.
Boomer and Blossom are the cultured cotton candy couple who share a passion for the French language, classic literature, fashion, and have great taste in music, especially where opera, operetta, ballet, and musicals are concerned. When they are not fighting crime alongside their teammates, Boomer and Blossom would make trips to museums, libraries, concert houses, opera houses, and restaurants which serve the finest cuisine. They certainly have quite the open mind for world culture.
In strife and in joy, you can bet that RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer will always be there for each other and can revel in being themselves with each other.
It is All in the Family
According to author and YouTuber, Joshua Fagan, in his video regarding the possibility of Zuko and Katara having kids, he stated that Zuko’s and Katara’s children would be beautiful both inside and out thanks to their great genes and their combined Fire Nation and Water Tribe ancestries, thus leading the Fire Nation into a more united future. Furthermore, Zuko and Katara would raise their children in tolerance, compassion, and consideration. The whole great genes as well as internal and external beauty and great upbringing argument would not be limited to Zutara, as it could also be supported for RobRae, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer because their children would be just as beautiful, intelligent, bright, open-minded, and perceptive. I can see RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby and Blossoomer commence tight-knit families complete with bright, intelligent, appreciative children who have an open mind to try new things with a brave face and never allow any stupid insult to get them down.
Robin and Raven would have twelve children, as in six boys and six girls, who are conscientious, reflective, calm, collected, and highly intelligent bookworms with an edge. They would bear their father’s determination, impulsiveness, and fearlessness and their mother’s darkly dry sense of humor, unabashed frankness, and deadpan sarcasm. It would also be quite the feat for their children to be acquainted with various spells used for healing, for incapacitating their enemies, for stopping time, and for levitation as well as with being involved with political science, literature, ancient history, martial arts, and various languages. Their hobbies and activities would be meditation, learning new spells, practicing various martial arts, reading works by Poe, Keats, Milton, Doyle, Kafka, and Foucault, and writing poetry.
Zuko and Katara would have seven children, as in two boys and five girls, who are passionate, determined, compassionate, kind, loving, down-to-earth, and honest warriors of integrity and truth capable of both firebending and waterbending. They would bear their father’s determination and unwavering resolve and their mother’s idealism and strong will. Their children would demonstrate a great passion for learning new techniques in both fire- and waterbending, implementing steam in their attacks, learning about their Fire Nation and Water Tribe heritages, and helping others who are in dire need, especially where their knack of learning about herbs and medicine is concerned. Their hobbies and activities would revolve around meditation, perfecting their fire- and waterbending techniques, medicine, horticulture, reading ancient literature, studying politics, and martial arts.
Nigel and Abby would have six children, as in four boys and two girls, who are cool, calm, collected, intelligent, fearless, focused, determined, and brightly savvy technicians. They would bear their father’s determination, choleric attitude, and gung-ho personality and their mother’s calmness, toughness, and iron will. Their children would be highly interested in creating fascinating inventions, learning about warfare, hip-hop music, composing rhythm and blues beats, playing the piano, and learning different songs. Aside from their technical endeavors, their children would also be very savvy in music and would enjoy singing rhythm and blues songs as their main hobbies. Furthermore, they would be extremely capable martial artists full of focus and discipline.
As you already know from my gallery, Boomer and Blossom have a whopping twenty-four children, as in twelve boys and twelve girls, who are diplomatic, intelligent, fashionable, classy, kind, cultured, and classy lightning and ice manipulators. They would bear their father’s lovable goofiness and their mother’s diplomatic intellect. Their children would be capable of reading complex texts by Charles Dickens, Mary Shelley, and the Bronte sisters, mastering both lightning and ice, have an eye for style, speak French very fluently, and even participate in singing in the Townsville Opera children’s chorus. Their hobbies would revolve around world literature, playing various musical instruments such as the piano and the violin, skiing, ice skating, fashion, preparing international cuisine, writing poetry, and various martial arts.
In conclusion, the unconditional love, the undying loyalty, and the pure genuineness RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby aka 15, and Blossoomer have as my most esteemed cartoon OTPs of all time are the hallmark attributes of what makes them stand strong together. They have a lot more in common than they think and the thematic importance of each of these couples can never be denied by virtue of their interpersonal sturdiness and unflinching resolve to never surrender. Ergo, I will always stay a proud shipper of RobRae, Zutara, NigelAbby, and Blossoomer until my dying day.
