Inuyasha-Style Justice League

This Justice League recast meme originally belongs to Bolinha644. Furthermore, this is my contribution to this year’s Red Ribbon Reviewers’ month.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, animation fans of all ages, this is what happens when you mesh two installments close to your heart to create something in the form of a recast. I have been a fan of the Justice League cartoon and Inuyasha ever since I was a tween between ten to twelve years old. My appreciation for these two installments multiplied when I reached my early teens. Sure, as an adult, I believe Justice League trumps Inuyasha in terms of scoring high marks in memorability, tight writing, fantastic characters, and plots that immerse me so much, but I can accept both of them as shows I have gained a major appreciation for in terms of the medium of animation. Be it Western animation or be it Japanese anime, if it has a tightly woven story, memorable characters, and fantastic animation, I will go for it full speed ahead.

As you probably know from my Splendid Seven posts, this recast also coincides with my Inuyasha AU headcanon of Sesshoumaru, Inuyasha, Ayame, Shuran, Hakkaku, Ginta, and Shunran banding together not only as a team of yokai warriors but also bear the closeness of a family, which they have been doing ever since they were very young children. That means my Inuyasha AU headcanon has made The Splendid Seven the Justice League of Feudal Era Japan, given their amazing abilities, overall formidability, and how the values they fight for mostly center around honor, courage, and strength, in contrast to The Justice League’s where they fight for truth, justice, and equality for all. Ergo, there is no way I am ever going to separate this group of seven.

When making this recast, I had to consider the plausibility of not only the Inuyasha characters fitting the Justice League’s characters’ shoes, but also what they have to make their respective roles their own, even though it is not one hundred percent. After all, this is my recasting and I call the shots here. Without further ado, let us get started from top to bottom.

Sesshoumaru as Batman was very simple to recast because of how taciturn, brooding, mysterious, lethal, and conscientious both of them are. Should you enter an interrogation room with these two, you better be prepared to tell the truth and nothing but the truth. For if you lie, they would definitely show no mercy by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, Sesshoumaru has more supernatural powers than Batman could ever bear, but his darkly imposing presence and his overall conscientiousness of his opponents’ strengths and weaknesses make him the perfect candidate for The Caped Crusader.

Ayame as Wonder Woman was a phenomenal no-brainer. We have to ladies who are not only powerful, independent, fierce, strong, and bear a great deal of physical prowess, but they are great role models to young girls everywhere who want to aspire to be as capable, strong, determined, and independent as both of them. Much like how formidable Wonder Woman is, Ayame is certainly someone who can fit the Amazon princess’s garter, tiara, and lasso with ease. Furthermore, Ayame is someone who is never ever going to back down from a fight, which also makes her a worthy candidate to don Wonder Woman’s garb with pride.

Hakkaku as Green Lantern may seem random because Green Lantern is a bit more down-to-earth and tough whereas Hakkaku is more high-strung. However, what both have in common is how shrewd they can be in battle as well as their overall combat prowess, thus making them formidable in their own special ways. Furthermore, they know how to don the color green so superbly, despite being of different shades. The other nice attribute about them is their resilience and their idealism because at least they can stand for something positive and not allow any form of negativity to befall them.

Inuyasha as Superman is akin to me hitting the jackpot in my local casino or winning the lottery by a huge landslide. This is attributed to how amazingly powerful, super strong, and fantastically resilient both of them are. They are even the designated main heroes and leaders of their respective universes who can punch walls with their bear hands, bend metal bars, and tear into their enemies with much simplicity. What both of them bear is not just muscle power, but also a determined, persistent mindset that displays courage, fearlessness, and perseverance. Granted, Inuyasha as Superman would also amp up on the attitude and on the brashness, but he still dons the role well.

Shuran as Martian Manhunter may seem out there, but one has to consider how physically imposing both of them are in their own special ways with J’onn bearing a sculpture-like musculature and Shuran being of a towering size as well being the biggest of his teammates/family. Sure, Shuran is far more large-and-in-charge and outgoing than J’onn J’onnz, who is more subdued in his manner, but what they have in common is their capabilities of using their powers to their advantage as well as having the big, strong physical presence to make them known that they are not to be messed with.

Ginta as The Flash spells loads of fun that I would have with him reaching his potential as the fastest family member of The Splendid Seven as well as someone who bears a lot of fantastic agility and strength to boot. What is even more worthy of Ginta to don The Flash’s garb is his lovably innocent charm and his enthusiasm which make him wonderful on the inside and on the outside. Furthermore, he bears a lot of humor to match with his lovability, which has made me root for them ever since I was a lot younger. So, lovable personality aside, I think that Ginta as The Flash would give him the perfect opportunity to perk up on his speed.

Shunran as Hawkgirl is another totally out there recasting choice, considering their widely different attitudes, as Hawkgirl is known for being forceful and tough while Shunran is known for being crafty, charming, and cute. However, both of them are wonderfully formidable in the sense that they are not afraid to get physical when the occasion calls for it. Resilience, endurance, and agility are what these ladies need in order to triumph in any battle. Furthermore, Shunran donning Hawkgirl’s garb would signify a great opportunity for her to be a lot more physical and find some hidden depths when it comes to duking it out with her opponents.

Naraku as Lex Luthor seemed to be a very destined recasting choice. Both of these villains are sly, manipulative, slimy, and absolutely horrible people. While Lex Luthor does bear some humane if unscrupulous traits, Naraku takes whatever negative qualities Lex Luthor has and amps them all up to eleven. Ergo, Naraku has out-Lexed Lex Luthor by a huge landslide. Calling this recasting choice impressive is a mere understatement. This villain fits phenomenally well for Naraku because he is someone who will commit a lot of unscrupulous acts to attain what he desires no matter how far he goes.

Byakuya of the Dreams as The Joker sounds really great in terms of concept and execution. And it is. While Byakuya may not bear the completely out there personality of The Joker, what he does bear is his undisputed talent of messing with his opponents’ minds and destroying them from the inside with sadistic humor. He also has this charisma that makes him both infectious and loathsome at the same time. Ergo, you want to hate him, but his motivations are truly inviting in a weird way. Furthermore, his brand of humor does make one smile with sadistic glee, thus making him a nice fit for The Joker’s evil clown garb.

Yura of the Hair as Cheetah is defined by how much feistiness, playfulness, and lethalness there are in both these she-devils. Furthermore, there is a dangerous element to them that they know how to pull off with malicious glee and delight. Overlooking their sadistic and cruel personalities, they are also extremely capable combatants who use their feminine wiles to destroy all of their opponents in one fatal swoop. This is also evident in how agile, graceful, and deadly they are both as fighters and as individuals. Opponents better have a prayer when they enter the stage. Hence, Yura of the Hair will definitely feel comfortable in Cheetah’s fur from top to bottom.

If there is a dream recast I am so happy to have committed, it has to be this one. I feel like every character fits their roles to varying degrees. The ones that do fit their respective roles fit them like the best quality glove in the world. I would also love to hear from you if you agree with this recasting or if you also have any ideas of who to recast the other Justice League characters as with the ones from Inuyasha. Please comment below and let me know.

I hope you all enjoyed this recasting and I will see you in the next submission. Take care, stay safe, and Happy Holidays, everybody.
