The Most Epic Bros in the World

This screenshot motivational poster is highly and I mean highly Pro-Shuran, Pro-Hakkaku, and Pro-ShuHak in the BroTP sense. Furthermore, this is my contribution to this year’s Red Ribbon Reviewers’ month. So, sit back, relax, and soak in the sheer awesomeness, tightness, and greatness of Shuran’s and Hakkaku’s friendship.

Inuvember is getting a whole lot better for me thanks to what I have to offer in my AU Headcanon. Taking center stage are a couple of best friends who can give Laurel and Hardy, Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, Pumbaa and Timon, and Mordecai and Rigby a run for their money in the forms of Shuran and Hakkaku. I know it is quite odd bro-shipping a huge, hulking, brawny panther yokai who shoots lightning from his hands and a high-strung, hilarious, energetic wolf yokai who can display a surprisingly fair amount of strength and speed, but what they can offer as a fine duo of friends is nothing short of amazing.

The main reason why I compare Shuran’s and Hakkaku’s chemistry with that of Laurel and Hardy as well as Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble is the routine these two would have as a duo who can compliment each other, with Shuran being the brawny, physical big guy who is all macho on the outside and well-meaning on the inside and Hakkaku being the energetic, high-strung smaller guy who bursts with boundless enthusiasm. This inspiration which I have gained from a lot of duos I grew up with became ingrained into what I managed to conjure up with Shuran’s and Hakkaku’s über tight friendship.

With that said, let us delve in to my seven reasons for supporting Shuran’s and Hakkaku’s friendship and why I believe these brothers from other mothers are worthy of my wholehearted appreciation. Why did I choose seven? Because there are seven characters I care for so much in my Inuyasha AU headcanon and you all know who they are.

1. They compliment each other in the most delightful way.
Combining Shuran’s brutal brawniness with Hakkaku’s energetic enthusiasm does make for an interesting banter between these two. However, it goes much deeper than that, as Shuran can aid Hakkaku stand up for himself a lot more and not be afraid to use his strength to overcome his foes and Hakkaku can remind Shuran that there is a lot more to life than just glory and conquest.

2. Their dynamics demonstrate how well they can fight in battle.
Think about it. Shuran is the brutish muscle and Hakkaku is the flexible athlete. If you put these two together, they can form an attack that combines physical strength with strategic competence. Having Shuran throw Hakkaku up in the air to give their foes a kick in the butt with the former giving their said foes the shock of their lives through his lightning blasts is already a surefire plan for victory. Ergo, this is a dynamic duo you do not want mess with.

3. They are loyalty and encouragement incarnate.
When there is a friendship as close and tight as Shuran’s and Hakkaku’s, it does signify how much they value each other in deep, meaningful ways. These guys will never leave each other behind and will always have each others’ backs. Shuran will also encourage Hakkaku to never give up on fighting the good fight and Hakkaku will always find something positive about Shuran underneath his super rough shell.

4. They both look exceptional in dark green.
This is mainly an aesthetic attribute, but I do mean it when I state that both Shuran and Hakkaku know how to rock their dark green outfits akin to wearing a badge of honor. This particular color makes them look more formidable than they already are and, in their case, dark green signifies embracing nature and authenticity, being free from the artificial or fake, loads of positivity, and an overall genuineness to their personalities, which are the attributes that define them to a T.

5. They are not going to give up without a fight.
There is nothing that can shake or break these gentlemen, for their collaborative efforts mean they can march on, even if the odds are not in their favor. Should they find themselves in despair, they will always have each other to look at the brighter side of things.

6. They can set good examples for their children.
Where my AU headcanon is concerned, both Shuran and Hakkaku are single dads of six children. Shuran is the father of Kohaku, Shintaro, Taichi, Souta, Bunza, and Souten while Hakkaku is the father of Asagi, Shion, Hitomi, Mizuki, Koume, and Kokichi. Shuran would definitely do his duty of making sure Kohaku, Shintaro, Taichi, Souta, Bunza, and Souten grow up to be strong, powerful, formidable fighters filled to the brim with determination and chutzpah. Hakkaku would manage to make sure Asagi, Shion, Hitomi, Mizuki, Koume, and Kokichi grow up to be passionate, caring, kind individuals who will always fight for what is right. All in all, their children will grow up to be of great character and will have friendships just as strong as their fathers’.

7. They are ultimate friendship goals personified.
Different personalities and perceptions aside, what makes Shuran and Hakkaku great as friends is the fact that they are each others’ foils and can aid each other in bettering themselves both together and as individuals. This is a duo I can definitely get behind because of their loyalty, camaraderie, and undying support towards each other. Ergo, they will stay faithful to each other as bros until their dying day.

What more can I say about Shuran’s and Hakkaku’s epic bromance? These two radiate with boundless loyalty and absolute support that it is difficult not to root for them and how close they are as great friends.

I hope you all enjoyed this and I would also like to hear from you as well. Do you believe that Shuran and Hakkaku can have a long-lasting friendship? If so, why? Comment below and let me know.

Until then, I will see you all in the next submission. Take care, stay safe, and have a nice November despite this ongoing pandemic.

Shuran and Hakkaku from Inuyasha belong to Rumiko Takahashi and Sunrise.
