Once Upon a Dream drawn by me

“I know you
I walked with you once upon a dream
I know you
That look in your eyes is so familiar, a gleamAnd I know it’s true
That visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you’ll do
You’ll love me at once
The way you did once upon a dream”
– Once Upon a Dream from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, written by Jack Lawrence and Sammy Fain, produced by George Burns, released on January 29, 1959.

This piece of Shadow x Suzie fanart from KatyGorl’s Spooksverse is dedicated to the one and only KatyGorl who was also a winner of BrickercupMasterX3’s annual Brickercup contest. So, Katy, I hope you enjoy your well-deserved gift, seeing that you have been wanting to see how envision Shadow and Suzie as a couple. May the Shadzie love increase to our hearts’ content and may this pairing keep on staying awesome in our eyes. Moreover, I want to also thank you for giving me the opportunity to partake in your annual OC Interaction/Crossover contest. Even though I did feel like I could have done a whole lot more, I am still so proud to have partaken in this, especially considering how much I cherish the Color-Clash Next Generation characters as well as the Color-Clash couples. So, also think of this as my personal token of gratitude and abundant blessings in everything you do as an artist and as a person.

Here we have Shadow dressing so elegantly and dashingly as Prince Philipp and Suzie looking absolutely lovely and charming as Princess Aurora. I basically chose these costumes for this couple because I grew up with Disney’s “Sleeping Beauty” as well as the original French fairy tale by Charles Perrault known completely as “The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood” and in its original French as “La Belle au Bois Dormant”. I also grew up with Tchaikovsky’s ballet of the same name. Ergo, my love for Sleeping Beauty, especially the Perrault’s original story, the Brothers’ Grimm version known as “Briar Rose” and in German as “Dornröschen” and the even more shocking original version by Giambattista Basile known as “Sun, Moon, and Talia”, knows no bounds, and I will always cherish this particular fairy tale because of how much sentimental value it has growing up. This even got to the point where as a 3rd-Year High School student, my former colleagues and I were in a production where we had to make a spin on the original Sleeping Beauty fairy tale as part of our Literary Musical Week.

Going back to this couple, I knew I was going to be absolutely entranced with Shadow x Suzie. The whole thought of a dark, mysterious goth girl hooking up with a lovely, sunny, sweet ingenue is not only fun and full of positive vibes but also interesting. I figure that these two lovely young ladies would have a healthy, long-lasting relationship, and I am totally entranced by their fantastic spell.

Speaking of my personal song choice for this picture, I chose “Once Upon a Dream” from, of course, Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, which is a love song that has been the definition of nostalgia ever since I was about four years old. As much as I enjoy the version sung by Mary Costa as Aurora and Bill Shirley, I definitely love the French version sung by Danielle Licari as Aurore and Olivier Constantin as Philippe because of how much I grew up with the Perrault version and I always associated Sleeping Beauty with France. Fun fact, Danielle Licari was also the singing voice of Catherine Deneuve’s Genevieve from “Les Parapluies de Cherbourg”. So, do enjoy both versions, and let me know which one you love the most.
