This screenshot motivational poster is highly Pro-Kuranosuke Takeda, Pro-Shuran, Pro-Hakkaku, and Pro-Kuranosuke x Shuran x Hakkaku in the BroT3 sense. Furthermore, this is my contribution to this year’s Red Ribbon Reviewers’ month.
I want to look at platonic pairings outside the main Splendid Seven gang dynamics, which means other relationships outside the inner circle of Sesshoumaru’s, Inuyasha’s, Ayame’s, Shuran’s, Hakkaku’s, Ginta’s, and Shunran’s family. Sure, Shuran and Hakkaku are still stuck together like glue, but they have someone other than Sesshoumaru they can easily consider their best friend in the form of Lord Kuranosuke Takeda.
Where my Splendid Seven headcanon is concerned, Kuranosuke and his wives, Ayumi and Karan, serve as the family’s greatest allies and friends both in battle and off the battlefield. He functions as the guardian of Feudal Era Japan who ensures the land is ruled with justice and humanity for all and is not one to let corruption encroach the land he loves. Whenever he needs help in battle, The Splendid Seven would not hesitate to aid him. Out of all the members, Kuranosuke is closest to Shuran and Hakkaku as his best friends.
Given that Kuranosuke’s life has constantly been ruled by politics, luxury, council meetings, and a heap of responsibilities, there have been times where he did not really feel like a normal, everyday gentleman. That is until he met Shuran and Hakkaku who were at first weirded out by his formalities, but were rather fascinated with his directness, surprising combat skills with his chosen weapons of a spear, a sword, and a bow and arrow, and how well-rounded he was. The other attribute that initially turned off Shuran and Hakkaku was his uptight personality. At least when they were still children they helped him realize that there was more to life than his gilded cage in his castle and made him see that there is a whole lot of world he could not afford to miss out on.
Growing up Kuranosuke, Shuran, and Hakkaku formed a really great bond with each other where they continued to help each other out in every endeavor. Kuranosuke would aid Shuran in directing his boundless energy into something more productive and he would also aid Hakkaku in never running away from battle, considering that Kuranosuke is akin to the present-day commander-in-chief. In turn, Shuran and Hakkaku would always help Kuranosuke in realizing that there is a whole lot of world that he can see right now and can also help him find balance in his political life as well as his personal life.
Even now with Kuranosuke at 40, Shuran at 38, and Hakkaku at 37, they are still the best of friends and will always be indebted to each other. There is no way that their days will be monotonous because life has a lot to offer these gentlemen and they are more than capable of tackling it with gusto.
