This edited screenshot comic is dedicated to all of my friends, fellow artists, fans, and brethren who are fans of Kohaku x Rin, Sesshoumaru’s fatherly relationship with Rin, and his support towards Kohaku as Rin’s future husband. So, sit back, relax, and soak in how wonderful Sesshoumaru is as a father to his eldest adoptive daughter, his support towards Kohaku as a warrior and Rin’s future husband, and that Kohaku x Rin loveliness.
I know it is the AU headcanon person in me speaking, but I have always been more of the person to see Sesshoumaru as Rin’s adoptive father with Kagura being married to him and Kanna entering his life as his younger adoptive daughter. What would make this family better? If both his daughters ended up having beaus of their own who can be able to stay strong and fight for them in every single way. Ergo, Sesshoumaru has always been supportive of Rin being together with Kohaku as a loving married couple when they came of age.
This means, in my AU headcanon, Kohaku was never controlled by Naraku and did not need his bull crap to make him feel guilty or self-loathing. As a demon slayer, he has certainly kept his pride, which also made him begin a fine friendship with Rin as little children but their relationship was blossoming into something more. Aside from that, Kohaku has been trained under the watchful eyes of Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha to ensure that his body, mind, and soul remain sturdy, focused, and unwavering. The results certainly scream highly to the heavens when he protects Rin from all forms of peril. As Kohaku’s prospective father-in-law and uncle-in-law, Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha are really proud of him that he was able to prove himself not only as a great fighter but also a worthy husband to Rin.
It also says something when Rin, even as an 8-year-old child, was super gutsy enough to tell the then 11-year-old Kohaku how she truly felt and what their future would look like. The Feudal Era was quite the time to grow up really fast and both Kohaku and Rin knew within their hearts that they were destined to be with each other. Rin has seen how formidable, tough, and determined Kohaku was and Kohaku has seen how upfront, direct, and compassionate Rin was. As they came of age, their prospects of having family did come true with her parents’ blessings as well as Uncle Inuyasha’s and Aunt Ayame’s blessings for their family to thrive in strength, beauty, and harmony.
Sesshoumaru is certainly the happy family man when he sees just how quickly his beloved eldest adoptive daughter has grown. He knows deep in his heart that Kohaku will be a great husband because he can see just how capable he was, not only as a combatant but also as his future son-in-law. Moreover, he knows that his grandchildren will be just as formidable and compassionate as their parents.
