Before any of you go jump at my throat for giving Bankotsu this type of treatment, let me state that I have absolutely nothing against him in any shape or form. In fact, Bankotsu is one of my most favorite Inuyasha villains ever who could have endeavored to have a second chance in life by turning away from his path of blood, glory, and conquest and enter the life of a true warrior willing to help Inuyasha and his “comrades” in defeating Naraku. Hence, I could say with confidence that if he reformed his ways and did not end up becoming too dependent on the Sacred Jewel shards for the sake of his halberd Banryuu, he would have found himself a true friend through Inuyasha, apologized for his rashness, and even call off Kagome for her constant abuse and Sango, Miroku, and Shippou for being nothing more than just a bunch of bystanders and bandwagon-jumpers. The mere fact that he and Inuyasha were evenly matched was something that made me root for him plus the charisma, charm, humor, and youthful fun he emits are traits that make him all the more endearing to watch.
Whilst I really love Bankotsu as a character, I cannot deny the atrocities he has done before and after his resurrection. The mere fact that he and his brothers were a mercenary band killing innocent people and being aimless in their resolve doing so makes them not only terrifying but also absolutely hellish. Inuyasha really had a point when he stated that Bankotsu was being way too greedy, as he was strong enough on his own even without his Banryuu and the Sacred Jewel shards. Ergo, Bankotsu may have charisma, charm, and a big personality, but his insatiable desire to become stronger without realizing what is more important is what made him a brute of a person.
Looks like our favorite warrior princess from Amphipolis has found herself doing intense battle with the youngest member and the leader of The Band of Seven, and she is loving every moment of it. Just as she is about to drive her sword into Bankotsu’s heart, she gives him an ultimatum, and that is to never use his strength for selfishness, overabundance of glory and/or power-grabbing ever again or she will lop his head off. Bankotsu agrees but ends up having a headbutt, roundhouse kick, and several gut punches by Xena to ensure that he will remember his promise to the warrior princess and make it serve as a warning.
Xena did a fine job on ensuring Bankotsu does not go back to his bloodthirsty ways anymore.
I hope you all enjoyed this and I will see you in the next submission. Take care and stay safe, everybody.
